You know, shielded inside a great big "Wizard of Oz" control room, carefully adjusting dials and levers to make just the right amount of heat?

Thus there are actually gozillions of "gods" and each one has his or her own little star system to play with. Only some gods got really lucky when they rolled their 40 sided dice and they got habital planets, while others just got dust and asteroid belts. Every once in awhile, a god has a tantrum and goes nova, or just has to go home for dinner and turns into a black hole?

It's possible you know.

I'm not sure if I was clear, but I mean like, do your parents (or when you were younger) do/did they ever make you go to a certain's religion church, when you actually didn't want to go? Did you believe in something else?

My parents still force me to go to the Catholic Church even though I've been studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses since I was a little girl. They threaten me to never even consider another religion. I just wanted to know if you any one else had ever gone through that.
And I want to get babtized.

what happens to those passionate believers when they don't get picked to go to heaven?
of course the answer is that the people will go to hell, side with the dark lord and take over the heaven and burn god, jesus and a couple of angels too.

then do you think that the son of a human may not be human?

When Jesus declared Himself to be the Son of God do you not think that He was declaring that He was God?

Is there a manual issued to you when you profess your faith that has a rule saying that no humor is tolerated?

I seem to see that mind set over and over in answers.

I used to pray every day as a child, but stopped doing it in my early teens; now that I am in my late teens I've returned to the faith. The problem is that I cannot establish any real connection to God through prayer. I believe that He exists, but it feels pretty much like I'm talking to a wall. Does anyone have some advice?

Yes, This Is About Islam - Salaman Rushdie

"If this isn't about Islam, why the worldwide Muslim demonstrations in support of Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda? Why did those 10,000 men armed with swords and axes mass on the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier, answering some mullah's call to jihad? Why are the war's first British casualties three Muslim men who died fighting on the Taliban side?" http://www.faithfreedom.org/Articles/rushdie/yes_its_about_islam.htm

Maybe in the land of omnipotence, being a mortal human for 70 or 80 years is just a way of taking a quick vacation?

Perhaps all the religious folk you know are just people who can't relax and "let go of the office"... you know, they can't get into the swing of mortal things.

Maybe earth's increasing population is a sign that we're becoming the next trendy resort or Disneyworld for gods?

Maybe unfair/unexpected deaths are just people getting called back to godland for emergencies?

Maybe suicide is just a way of cutting your crappy vacation short?

Maybe "you can't take it with you" is really just very harsh duty tax and customs regulations?

I think next time I'm going to a different galaxy.

I lost my voice for awhile (it is back again but no longer sing public functions as it has changed with age., so I read the hymns and vs by vs and chorus by chorus, write down what it is saying, at least to me. It is fun, interesting, uplifting, inovative, challanging and I found one with the words on one page and the composer and lyrisit on the opposite=helps understand why they wrote the hymns and often under dire circumstances.

Qur'an 67:5 says that stars are lamps placed in the "lowest" of the seven layers of heaven which were made to attack evil spirits like missles. This implies that shooting stars are stars that become a missle as they attack an evil spirit.

I've been told that shooting stars are not stars at all, but are actually tiny meteors burning up in Earth's atmosphere. Perhaps modern science is wrong, and Mohammad's revelation is right?

I'm expecting the predictable...
"you don't know what you're talking about"
"you are a racist"
and / or
"the Qur'an can't be translated"

So I've provided the following material to prove that the Qur'an is indeed in error.

In Arabic:
"Wa Laqad Zayyannā As-Samā'a Ad-Dunyā Bimaşābīĥa Wa Ja`alnāhā Rujūmāan Lilshshayāţīni Wa 'A`tadnā Lahum `Adhāba As-Sa`īri"

Norse religion

The viking gods looked like humans and lived on high in a heaven called Asgard. Here was the residence of many gods, but only one, Odin, ruled over all other gods. he was cunning, wise, and dangerous. Another god, Thor was god of war, rain, and farming. HIs supernatural power made most vikings want to wear a thor's hammer neckless, much as we today might wear a goodluck charm. Other prominents gods include Tyr, trey and balder. SOme of the days of our week are named for norse gods (try's day, Wooden's day, Thor's day) Vikings also believed that eventually there would be twilight of the gods (ragnarok? durring which the world would be destoryed. But before this event took place, the vikings became christianized around 1100. With that change came a whole new set of religious beliefs.

I ask a bad question?

2006-11-27 14:56:57 · 22 answers · asked by Evil Atheist Conspirator 4

I am *so* doomed. (And the fact that it is a re-post earns me a special place in Hades!)

Have a peace-filled evening!

: )

To the Tune of "We Gather Together"

We gather together
To ask lots of questions
We’ve posers and queries
We wish to make known
Like does our god hate us?
Will he incinerate us?
And which lucky kneelers
Will he call his own?

Just who is Ganesha?
And what did he teach ya’?
And was that guy Judas
A hero or chump?
And can you tell me, ma’am,
The pillars of Islam?
If Buddha took the middle way
Why was he so plump?

The trollish among us
Post drivel to bug us
Like “You’re All Reported!”
And “What Should I Do?”
But we do not hate them
We mostly tolerate them
(‘Cause if you report them
Then they’ll report you!)

We thank Yahoo Answers
For gathering together
The atheist, Christian,
The Muslim, the Jew
We’d never have met them,
We never will forget them
Though they raise our blood pressure
We learn from them too.
