Norse religion

The viking gods looked like humans and lived on high in a heaven called Asgard. Here was the residence of many gods, but only one, Odin, ruled over all other gods. he was cunning, wise, and dangerous. Another god, Thor was god of war, rain, and farming. HIs supernatural power made most vikings want to wear a thor's hammer neckless, much as we today might wear a goodluck charm. Other prominents gods include Tyr, trey and balder. SOme of the days of our week are named for norse gods (try's day, Wooden's day, Thor's day) Vikings also believed that eventually there would be twilight of the gods (ragnarok? durring which the world would be destoryed. But before this event took place, the vikings became christianized around 1100. With that change came a whole new set of religious beliefs.

Buddhism: 1) Buddhism says the universe was created by natural causes. Judaism, Christianity and Islam all say the entire universe was created in 6 days. Only when science proved it took more than 6 days did they suddenly find the 'real meaning' of days not meaning days at all but many many years. Amazing! 2) Someone asked Buddha how old the earth is, and Buddha said "it would be like stroking a mountain with a piece of silk every 100 years until the mountain wore out" [paraphrased]. The earth is millions or billions of years old so this is in line with science. However fundamentalist Christians and orthodox Jews believe the world is around 6,000-8,000 years old. 3) Buddhism says there's no such thing as a soul. So far, science hasn't proven there's a soul. It's the only religion in the world to say there's no soul. 4) Buddhism says suffering comes from desire which is all in the mind. This is true, as suffering for one person can be pleasure for another just because of their mind. Judaism, Christianity and Islam all say suffering comes from eating magical fruit in a mystical garden with talking creatures. 5) Buddhism says peple have 6 senses, not 5. The 6th sense is the mind, which is true because without the mind senses emotion and other things, when other religions talk about 'the heart' as where emotions come from. There are unscientific teachings in Buddhism too, just like every religion, but the Dalai Lama says that if science and religion ever conflict then you should go with science, which abrogates any unscientific teachings of Buddhism, making it most in line with science since Buddhism embraces science rather than resists it.

The original Vikings were actually called the "Purple People Eaters". They were led by their leaders Thor Page, and Odin Eller. They had to fight the Lions and Bears before they could be considered Gods. Once they were a God, only then could they slay the Packers.
