If you take the time to read over the gospels, you'll probably discover that Jesus never claimed to be God. He named God as his father in heaven. You can blame/credit Christianity for the holy trinity concept (not that it doesn't work for those who believe it).
There are a couple of theories why he cried out that phrase on the cross---one is that, being truly human, he felt the anguish and depth of despair of being alone without the presence of God, which is his ultimate identification with us.
Alternately, the phrase (which is accurately translated as "My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?") is the first line of an existing psalm, which although at first despairing, eventually becomes a hymn of highest praise to God. In this way, even in his last agony, Jesus was proclaiming his love and trust in God.
Pretty interesting to know, isn't it?

Mark 15:34 NIV
And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

This is the only recorded time in Scripture where Jesus Christ addresses the Father as "God", instead of "Father". Now, the Trinity cannot be completely understood, but a small help might be thinking of it in terms of 1 x 1 x 1 = 1. With that in mind, look at it this way: when Jesus was on the cross, He took upon Himself my sin and your sin; everybody's sin. He Himself was sinless, but He suffered the punishment for all who would accept His gift and Him as their Savior and Lord. And so, as many pastors say, at the time when the sins of mankind were placed upon Christ Jesus, the Father, one of the Trinity, who is holy and cannot have sin in His presence, looked away. At that point in time, Jesus Christ was in such anguish and seperation, not to mention the sins of the world suddenly piled up on Him, that it certianly felt as if He was forsaken. As to answer your question: Jesus Christ, who is God, was crying out to the Father, who is God. Remeber: the Father, the Son Christ Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. 1 x 1 x 1 = 1. God bless!

His father. But at that point, he felt such abandonment, that he could not call him Father. He saw God the father as a separate being. Think about what history documents as the suffering of Christ during that time. Anyone in that much pain would feel abandoned.

But God did not desert him, but God knew that someone had to pay the price and He sacrificed his own son to die.

And if even Jesus can feel abandonment at that time, it explains why we feel the same way. God does not abandon us, he loves us and yes, He is still there on the sidelines. Because God brought his son into paradise after that horrible exerience.Yes, sometimes we go through horrible things, and it may seem that God doesn't care. But sometimes we go through the bad things for a reason. Perhaps to help us to learn how to face something in the future, or perhaps so we can encourage others. I don't know why it happens, but God does, and He still loves us.

Jesus is a man, not God. Jesus and God are different. There is no such thing as Holy Trinity. It is just an invention of the Catholic Church to support the belief that Jesus is also God.

I'm sure you've heard of the trinity. The word trinity is not mentioned in the Bible, yet it's still perfectly apparent that it's true if one reads the Bible. There is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. It's something we as humans cannot fully comprehend because well, we're human.

But Jesus was talking to God the Father.

Jesus was the human form of God, and lived as a man, who was the son of God, so that he could see firsthand what it was to be a human being, with all the temptations, joys, sorrows, etc that humans feel. When Jesus asked that question, he was asking it as a man, not as a spirit form. Read the Holy Bible, particularly the book of Matthew, which tells all about that which you are asking. God's spirit lived in the human body of Jesus Christ. God's spirit left Jesus Christ's body before the body of Jesus died on the cross, so essentially Jesus was in human form for a short time period, therefore he was asking his father that question. Its real simple. Read the Bible for a better and deeper explanation.

People claim Jesus is the son of god...while others say god, jesus and the holy spirit are all one. Dont ask me though, i'm an atheist. I'm guessing the different sects of christianity have different answers to your question.

Jesus was never God Almighty but a man god. And what differentiates God Almighty from a man god.

God Almighty is one and only one. He never manifests as a human being. It is a different matter that in Hinduism Lord Krishna has been considered an Avatar (God manifest in human form). And presently people are awaiting the advent of Bhagwan Kalki... one with almost the same powers as Lord Krishna and an Avatar of the modern era.

Who is a man god? A man god is one... a normal human being who has gained enlightenment in his lifetime. And thereafter gained salvation (liberation from the cycle of birth and death) forever!

Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed... all are man gods. In the last about 150 years only two persons have gained enlightenment. They were Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana. Both these enlightened Saints gave back to the community what they had learnt on the path to God.

In Christianity... to treat Jesus as God is crime. Truthfully he is a son of God as all human beings are. We are all beloved sons and daughters of God. There is no other relationship that exists apart from this.

After gaining enlightenment... every true son of God gains entry into the kingdom of God (aka Baikuntha in Hinduism). This is a point of no return. None can ever return from the kingdom of God. Neither can one go to the kingdom of God in bodily form nor can one return from the kingdom of God in bodily form.

Kingdom of God is the place where God Almighty resides. Apart from God Almighty only enlightened souls can exist in the kingdom of God.

Those souls who have not yet gained enlightenment are either present on Mother Earth or in heaven (aka Swarga in Hinduism) or hell (aka Naraka in Hinduism). Heaven and hell are the intermittent stages in the life of a soul where it rests until it gets a body to manifest.

Jesus Christ prayed to God as a normal human being as we all do. To seek blessings of God Almighty is a prerogative of all enlightened souls. We human beings at times are so engrossed in our day-to-day affairs that we forget to say our prayers. But for enlightened souls keeping in touch with God Almighty all the time is essential. I'm not a scholar, but I think that was His humanity speaking to God the Father. Jesus the Son is fully God, fully man. He is God incarnate. God is one God who is revealed in three Persons who are coequal, coeternal, and eternally distinct, but there is One God. God is One Being. Son of God I think refers to the second Person of the Trinity. Jesus is also called God the Son. www.equip.org
