why were the references to it in the bible so indirect. Instead of just stating that sodomy is a sin, various terms have been used and interpreted by people to mean homosexuality.

Why does the Bible have to explain exactly how life got started? And was St. Augustine wrong for disapproving strict creationism?

St. Augustine wrote that basically it is not possible to understand what was being described in Genesis. It was not intended as a science textbook. It was intended as a description of who God was, who we are and what our relationship is supposed to be with God. Augustine explicitly warns against a very narrow perspective that will put our faith at risk of looking ridiculous.

why can't you just ignore this category instead of spreading such
negative views to those who believe....it's very offensive to those
who believe...

It's quite funny really....
simply expressing one's faith, without trying to convert somehow seems to offend.

Are there people out there afraid of other religions? Does their mere presence offend?

Does anyone find this as curious as I?

then why do scientists absolutely refuse to acknowledge that God exists? Do they think that God doesn't exist and that the Bible is just a bunch of fairy tales solely because they care more about always trying to prove themselves right whether they are or not than they do about what is and isn't truthful?

This is for the Atheists only and should not be of any interest to anyone else.
I have currently started an atheist group in my community. I just wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions. I need ideas for getting the word out, I have not really done to much so far and the group is pretty small. Is this something any of you would even be interested in or have time for. I just want it to be a place for local atheists to go to meet people and have a good time, meet new people and network Offer support and do good things for the community. Basically take the good things that church does but with absolutely NO SPITITUALAITY WHAT SO EVER. Also NO corruption or child molestationLOL. Anyway just wanted some suggestions and help. Have any of you ever tried something like this? If so do you have any advice

I have always believed in God. I will always believe in God. I want to try to go to church. But I had a bad experience at the last church I attended. A lot of the sermons really angered me, and I didn't believe them. Also I tried reading the Bible, but it bored me (sorry if that offends anyone, but I have to be blunt).

I want God to have a greater presence in my life. I believe in Jesus. I would even call myself a Christian. But do I have any right to align myself as a Christian if I said such a thing about the Bible? How can God become a bigger part of my life?

I mean, seriously people, God is an ancient myth and the Bible is a book of fables. Will society ever see organized religion for what it really is and stop being brainwashed by its ridiculousness? Or will we just keep killing each other to see whose God is the best?

I don't think many people would come so mine would be a small ceremony. The only songs I want played would be "Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley and "Requiem" by Mozart.

If you are serious, go ahead and answer. Otherwise if you want to yell at me, you can email me. Thanks.

Jehovah's Witnesses (JW’s) say no and quote Matthew 5:27-28 and Exodus 20:14 (the 7th-Commandment). Illogical? Yes, because the 7th-Commandment constitutes the rule of law against adultery. Moreover, the Seventh Commandment is separate from Matthew 5, which refers to the physical law of divorce. According to Deut. 24:1, divorce comes from a CODE of physical laws; whereas, the Ten Commandments are sole a spiritual law (Romans 7:14), which Deut. 6:5 summarizes in the first four commandments as love towards God. Sadly, JW’s fail to understand that Matthew 5:27-28 refers to the divorce part written by Moses, which Jehovah ordered be placed at the SIDE of the ark (Deut. 31:26). Whereas, Exodus 20:14 refers to Adultery written by the finger of God on two tables of stone, which Jehovah ordered to be placed IN the arc--not the side. (Deut. 10:2) The manner indicates a division of two parts; one written by man verse the other written by God. Question: do I speak the truth?

Also, I was reading somewhere awhile back where some statues of Jesus had "blood" running down from the crucifixition wounds.
