I have just read the answers you received, and they are about what i expected. The fact is , Petunia, that in the last days, there will be scoffers. these people either do not know what they are doing, or they are challenging God directly to His face. whichever is the case, we should pray for them, as that is what our Saviour would want. It truly does grieve me to see some of the questions and comments on this forum. I know that our Lord is more understanding than we. He is also a just God and will, in His own good time, deal with the scoffers and accusers. I pray for His grace to be upon them as it is on me, and I thank Him for my salvation and would that everyone could know of His love and mercy. Thank you for your concern and for your willingness to take a stand for Christianity. Bless you and have a happy thanksgiving.

Maybe non-believers would be willing to let believers have the Religion & Spirituality category if believers would be willing to stop evangelizing and prostyletizing in non-religious threads. I can't count how many times I've been in a thread about something like car repair, only to find believers using that as their personal forum for spreading the good news of the gospel. This kind of religious spamming, (and that's basically what it is), is equally disrespectful.
For the record, I'm a preacher's son who finds value in religion, not one of the folks leaving disrespectful comments.

No. My father exchange right into a preacher. My mom led her church's missionary society. I went to church my first 18 years, and prayer conferences, and that i've got examine the entire Bible. I observed as myself a Christian until i exchange into approximately sixteen. Then i got here across scientific empiricism and observed how plenty greater efficacious that's than prayer at definitely getting something performed. i spotted that faith flourishes while its ideals at the instant are not questioned, while technological know-how flourishes while its ideals ARE questioned. i desperate that faith exchange into like the Wizard of oz, telling people "Pay No interest To the guy at the back of the curtain," to the hidden egocentric pursuits at the back of the myths. and that i desperate that technological know-how is plenty greater elementary, that its ideals had the greater valuable epistemology, and that those have been the motives it ought to be depended directly to make the lighting fixtures come on, or assume the place the planets could be seen in the sky, on a similar time as faith sucked while it got here to doing something real. i think of that if Christians stopped being hypocrites, then they had provide up being Christians, too. (If Jews stopped being hypocrites, on the different hand, they could nonetheless be Jews, yet they had ought to provide up pretending that Zionism isn't a marketing campaign to grant the Jews possession of the international and lordship over every person else.)

Why do some believers post such disrespectful things to and about us? I mean, I never looked at this section until I saw nasty questions turn up on the main page that asked or talked about us. That is what brought me here. Don't like it, well some of your own only have themselves to blame. I wouldn't be here if people weren't talking nasty first.
I respect people's right to their beliefs, I've never had a problem with that. What I do not have respect for is some other people's perceived "right" to have disrespect to ME, and my rights to my own beliefs.

First of all, how dare you try to censor MY beliefs because they conflict with yours? A very elitist and closed-minded viewpoint. Second, no one is talking about YOUR god, but all the Gods in the world (yes you are thinking there is only one God, well tell that to a Buddist, Muslim and a Born Again) They mean religion is a general sense.
You are not intellectually capable of briefly detaching yourself from your own religious beliefs to even consider other possibilities. Another prime example of religious brainwashing.
The Rev has it right... it is really just to make you think about the world from a different angle. The disrespect doesn't come until you make comments like this.

Nothing is more disrestpectful than trying to suggest that your beliefs are somehow superior to someone else's.
The problem is that too many...no, FAR too many "believers" ask their questions in such a way as to suggest that their views are the correct ones.
The point is that NO ONE KNOWS what religious beliefs are correct. ALL religions and all holy books were created by regular people just like you or me. They rise only to the level of opinion.
For example, I believe that God exists, but that I, as a mere mortal, am incapable of fully understanding what He/She/It is really all about. I just have to believe that if I conduct myself correctly and try to leave the world a little better than I found it, then I'll be in His/Hers/Its good graces when I die.
My belief is every bit as valid as yours or anyone else's. When religious persons stop pontificating, you'll see fewer criticisms in response.
It is unreasonable to expect to be able to state religious belief as fact without being subject to critique.

It's also very offensive when people who are christian post things like 'All atheists burn in the fiery pits of hell you are all spawn of Satan and should suffer eternally'
And don't say they never do, because they do. All the time.
And for the record, I've never posted disrespectul comments. I believe everyone has the right to their own brain and their own choice in belief. And just as you can see from the comments above mine, already I've been insulted for my own personal beliefs by Christians.

Some people vent on the answers. They get rude because they don't see the questioner or other people on here. Atheism is a passionate belief for some and they rage with it. In the US we have the right to our beliefs, or non-beliefs.
Try not to let it bother you.

Because what conservatives preach is not spirituality, it is pride, and conformity to the republican corporate machine. It is the evil that will bring the world crumbling down. Not faith In God, or worship, but the belief that theirs is the only religion, and the right path,,,,, that divides men, we need unity and non-judgment, I offend in the hopes of truth overwhelming the non-truths.
