Since people are not immortal, does it follow then that religion evolved primarily as a coping mechanism to deal with death?

I had a spiritual experience once when I completely let my ego go and it was very positive but ... it's now just a faded memory. The experience was one of Unconditional Love with absolutely no judgement and no concepts of hell, sin, guilt. It was so real and it was so close but so foreign (it was so close as to be a part of Me but not the small/ego 'me') -- I felt completely not alone. And yet, despite that, I've gone back to my old patterns of thought and haven't integrated it into my life. Any similar experiences?

They believe in Christ as do the Catholics. The Catholics have to believe in Christ if they worship Mary His mother.

If you found out that the catholic church was hiding a lie that would undermine all Christian beliefs, and they had gone to all lengths to hide it, and you could prove to the world that it had lied to the people for all this time, knowing that social order as we know it would probably disintegrate, and you would destroy many people's faith and purpose in life, would you let the world know? and why?
(If you've seen the DaVinci Code or Stigmata you get the idea of what I'm asking).

"Simon in sorcery bewitched the people. "

yet he saw the power of Jesus the messiah and wanted to buy the greatest power and Peter the Jewish Apostle who led over 3,000 of his Jewish people to Messiah Jesus replied-

Acts 8 vs 20 "But Peter said unto him, thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money."

As this Spiritist that condones witch craft telling one not to listen to believers in the Messiah Jesus but keep doing the witch craft. And she claims to be Jewish too!

what do you think should we believe the bible or Danielle of doofus answers?

Isaiah predicted perfectly the Messiah Jesus

MOses who said we have to have a blood atonement for our sins Leviticus 17vs11, also stated suffer not a witch to live-yet Messiah Jesus says to give them the Gospel so they get saved and the true highest power-not worshiping nature as a wicca or spells and stuff or black magic as a black witch.

Let say a man named Tony is a Christian. Tony believes in God (w/c may or may not exist) & lives for Him. He prays always & has many "answered" prayers, reads the Bible daily, and practices the good values it teaches, like love, kindness and forgiveness. He goes to church every week, gives to the poor and unfortunate. Feels blessed by God & so blesses others.

He loves his family, and has many friends. He is successful in his career, he takes care of his body and is healthy. He is not shame-filled or depressed. But lives life with happiness, vitality and purpose. He expects to go to heaven when he dies, because he is a believer in Christ.

What do you think of Tony's life? is it a good life?or is it being wasted because it is lived for an illusion?

What is Tony missing here? what negative consequences of being a christian will there be in his life?Compared to an atheists life, is Tony's life inferior?do you pity him, admire him or hate him for the way he lives his life?

Someone already posted a similar question, but I find it intriguing and I would be curious to know what religion would be chosen.

They said someone with a bad hip was getting healed. If they are getting a word from God about healing, why doesn't God just tell them who He is healing and where and when? And what if there are 100 people who all have a bad hip but God is only healing 1 of them? What will the other 99 think?

Is it obvious that I am not exactly sold on Robertson and his tactics for keeping people tunned in? I believe God can and does heal, but he doesn't use this method but what do you think?

When I was a kid, I was raised Christian. And I believed in monotheism, Jesus as the savior, heaven and hell etc. But my faith gradually weakened as I grew up and became a more complex thinker. Now at 21, I am firmly entrenched in agnosticism. I admit I don't know the answers to deep existential and theological questions, and I'm OK with that. But will I always be OK with it? Spiritually, how have you changed with age? What changes do you notice in others?

So when I was younger I use to go to church all the time and lived a pretty good Christian life, but I started feeling like maybe God wanted to start teaching and showing other young ones the word of God and I got kinda freaked out and shut the door on him.

Recently I started back to church and getting back into a Christian life. I’ve been going to a new church and I have been building a good friendship with the pastor’s husband and want to talk to him about how I feel god wants to show other young ones the way, and how I want to life the Christian life again.

I just don’t know how to tell or ask him to help me? I was thinking about writing him a letter and giving it to him….what would YOU do?
