Let say a man named Tony is a Christian. Tony believes in God (w/c may or may not exist) & lives for Him. He prays always & has many "answered" prayers, reads the Bible daily, and practices the good values it teaches, like love, kindness and forgiveness. He goes to church every week, gives to the poor and unfortunate. Feels blessed by God & so blesses others.

He loves his family, and has many friends. He is successful in his career, he takes care of his body and is healthy. He is not shame-filled or depressed. But lives life with happiness, vitality and purpose. He expects to go to heaven when he dies, because he is a believer in Christ.

What do you think of Tony's life? is it a good life?or is it being wasted because it is lived for an illusion?

What is Tony missing here? what negative consequences of being a christian will there be in his life?Compared to an atheists life, is Tony's life inferior?do you pity him, admire him or hate him for the way he lives his life?

ok, Tony's life seems too perfect. right, I agree.
What if he doesnt impose his religion on others, but testify to them when they ask and he witnesses to them through his living his good & godly life....is there already nothing wrong at all? even if the atheists are right in saying that God doesn't exist?

The right & christian way to treat atheists, gays, Jews, muslims, etc. is to love them, dont you think? but then again, wont loving them make you want them to go to heaven with you? so that leads to you sharing your beliefs with them. I think there's nothing wrong with that, as long as you dont scare people, or force them to believe in Jesus out of fear, and do it in a loving way as someone who cares for their souls?
that's quite hard, eh? in the end of course, it all lies on the person's DECISION to believe or not. what do you think?

There's nothing negative at all!
If this is the type of life he wants to live, he's doing it right.
Religion is something very personal. Every one needs a different type of it to be happy. Some don't need a religion at all. To me, everybody needs a certain type of philosophy to go through life but this can vary to a huge degree! As long as people are happy with what they choose, there's nothing wrong.
Where it starts getting wrong is if people try to convince others that only their own way of living is right. This applies to every one, even to the people who have 'no' religion.
Accept others the way they are and their way of living. As long as thy don't impact you, don't disturb them!

Nobody is that perfect. What if Tony denies his children a good education because he won't let them believe in science?
What if Tony teaches his children to be hateful toward gays, Jews and atheist?
What if Tony writes off 10% Church deduction on his income tax but only gives the church 2 or 3%?
What if Tony tell other people they are going to hell for doing things that he is secretly doing himself?.
What if Tony wants to impose his beliefs and morality on other people who don't share his beliefs?
Isn't "my" Tony more of a typical Christian than yours?

I wouls say Tony lead a Great life. The only thing I didn't see here did Tony give Jesus his sins? did He ask God for payment for his sins? that he must do in order to go to Heaven.

Other then that I would say Tony was a Good Man. and I would admire him greatly

Tony is fooled by the paradox of religion. If he is doing all those things just to go to heaven, he is deluded. You do stuff that you know isright because of your own conscience not because you think god is watching over you and will punish you or whatever. Also, i would bet my life that you don't go to heaven just because you believe in Jesus. Maybe Tony should begin to think for himself rather than obey some stupid religion blindfolded.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with being a Christian. My dearest friend is a warm, kind, loving man who hasn't tried to convert me, and is respectfu of me being an atheist. I see nothing wrong with anything that he does in practicing his faith, and I am even touched by some of it.

Tony, the example you give, has a pretty nice life. As do I. I simply choose not to believe.

if there were more Tonys then maybe nonbelievers would not be so quick to attack. I have been a long time believer and The Tonys are rarer than you think

There is nothing negative about his life. In many ways I envy him. The only thing that gets negative about any religeon is when people try to cram it down someone elses throat.
