Some say this will have to come as elsethere will be hardly any priests. vocations falling. There was a time in history when priests could marry but then was thought the celibate life more suited to the vocation as no distractions....also of financial benefit to the church. There are instances in any major religion where things have been changed a bit to accomodate the church of teh time....a survival mechanism....does not affect the basic dogma.

No, I don't think it is true, especially not with Benedict as our pope. I think it would only cause problems and not really improve anything. Besides, it is the job of a priest to stand in persona Christi and Christ was never married. The Church is his bride.

Once you are a priest, you should not be allowed to marry.
If you are married, and then called to tthe priesthood, well, that's different. And that's how married priests come about.

I hope to God so. Denying someone of a biological urge built into them is just retarded and has obviously created a lot of other problems that go against all morallity. It's way past time this was allowed to happen.

i hope so. i think it will be a great leap in catholisism to allow it. it will encourage more people to go into priesthood, and it will level out the corruption.
