I'm not sure what you mean by changing things, but I can tell you this... The Catholic church was the FIRST church and maybe it thinks it has more rights to do what it wants. Many broke away from the church because they didn't like that they were lied too for years by the priests on what the Bible said. After the Bible was made public, other churches and religions were made. I had a great History teacher in College!!

If you want a serious answer then re-post with more detail. To the knowledge I have as a catholic the church has changed least of all the other churches who seem to just allow big changes like re-marriage, gay priests, condoms etc.
The catholic church has changed and in some ways such as mass in the vernacular and has developed some doctrines further.
for example the recent pronouncement that limbo is not catholic doctrine. However you should understand that it never was. It was only a theory put forward for discussion in the middle ages.
Look forward to your re-post.....?

Are you serious??? The Catholic Church's doctrinal beliefs haven't changed in 2,000 years! Compare that to the thousands of conflicting, contradicting Protestant denominations that have cropped up in the past few hundred years! You can find a Protestant church that teaches just about anything you want to hear! Talk about changing things! Every difference between Protestantism and Catholicism is something that Protestants changed! And you ask why the Catholic Church can change things? WHAT are you talking about??

The Catholic church certainly doesn't seem to resemble the first century Christian congregation. There are certain obvious differences like the clergy/laity division which didn't exist at first, the teachings of Trinity, hellfire and the immortality of the human soul, none of which Jesus taught, nor his early disciples, they have amassed wealth and property but use it for their own benefit, not to promote God's Kingdom which they don't believe in anyway. They are essentially a different religion from the first century congregation, and can make up their own laws based on what they think is important at the time.

Some wise old guys who use to free life with loud voice they always use to preach manhood and strong-will to their children and thought this are the characteristics of good human being and society. As time is the only and the best mirror is showed this kind of free will promoting policy generated many youths who had no control over their mind and faith they went severely unbalanced as they always were emphasized to have an Herculean attitude and cunning mind gust guess what happens when you have lots and lots of hooligan's with hard head and no heart .The society lost it's moral grip, we had youths making fun of marriages getting marry and divorce became and issue of fun.

This was the time when wise people steeped in and dezined and model which covers a very wide spectrum of human emotion and behavior. it was blended with emotions of divinity and fear of hell. As it was a system witch was working till recently . may i revel humans witch were bad before, have turn devil and evil today, if you don't believe me, just read your own life story, you might agree,

Yes we do require a new more effective system to keep in place instead of old one, but, why do be want that ,because we are humans an civilized society, but million dollar question is am i happy and feel on top of world by criticize other religious people or i do have some strong rigid idea to become really civilized. Hope you will understand, sorry for being bit long

Humans come with certain traits. It is not something we can eliminate from our lives. If the followers of that particular faith are ok with it, then so be it. As long as they strive to be the best and kindest human beings they can be, they are not hurting anyone.
And after all, who are we fellow humans to assume that we have the perfect truth or answers no matter which creed, faith or religion we follow? That is presumptuous. We are all fallible. That's life!

Money, influence, power, and just sheer numbers has helped the church even through tough times like the reformation and the pedophile crisis.

power is a great source for control....No religion is more rooted and long standing as the catholic church. In fairness they have done much good but power corrupts many

Because the church has the final say.....not God. The bible is God's word. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. The Catholic church bends to pressure.
