ARABIC: Wa eza aradna an nohlika kariatan amarna motrifiha fafasako feha fahaqa Alliah alkowl fadamarnaha (Surat Al-Isra 17:16)
ENGLISH TRANSLATION:And when We desire to destroy a city, WE COMMAND its men who live at ease, AND THEY COMMIT UNGODLINESS therein, then the Word is realized against it, and We destroy it utterly. S. 17:16

We know how planets are formed from gas dust and debris, and that is exactly how Earth was formed, Earth in a sense formed itself and all it's components were brought together over billions of years to form a planet, the same forces that formed our solar system and the galaxies of solar systems that form the universe.

Science doesn't answer all questions yet but science continues to add to our store of knowledge about earth and the universe, throwing our hands up and saying nobody knows how this or that happens yet so it must be God really explains nothing and adds nothing to our bank of human knowledge. It's more like saying you don't want to know how things came about because it spoils a supernatural idea of God you rather want to cling on to.

There are (at least) two passages in the Qur'an relating the announciation of Jesus' birth to Mary.

Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah has chosen thee ...
Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah gives thee glad tidings ...
-- Sura 3:42 & 45

Then we sent to her Our angel, and he appeared before he as a man in all respects. She said: "I seek refuge from thee to (Allah) Most Gracious: (Come not near) If thou dost fear Allah."
-- Sura 19:17-18

How many angels came to Mary? The Arabic uses the plural form, which means there were no less than three angels, but can also mean that there were actually four, or a thousand, or a million etc.!

Why does Mary only seek refuge from one of the angels as she only addresses one in Sura 19:18? Were the others not like men and threatening to her?

If Heaven exists beyond space and time, how do you measure when someone enters? And how do you know when you've enter? If there is no time, does that mean that everyone has always been there?

And if Heaven is just being with God, where is that exactly? Where IS God?

is it wrong for me to not believe in that despite being a catholic?

i was educated in a catholic school where we were taught about how praying the rosary helps save lives and whatnot. i believed in it and prayed it almost everyday. but then when i got to college and had the opportunity to study theology (not in-depth) that by praying the rosary, i'm venerating Mary more than God. come to think of it, when you pray the rosary, you have to say fifty hail mary's and only five our father's. can you enlighten me on this topic?

So why do people feel the need to report people who answer questions in ways they disagree with? here's proof:

When answering the question: Will you bring me a shiny new God who doesn't kill people?

I responded to a humorous question with much evidence from the bible itself that not only does god kill people, bu he encourages his people to do the same. Yet, I was reported and my response was deleted.

My question is, if you've ever reported someone, and if so, why?
If you saw an answer you didn't agree with, would you jump to the report button like the person who reported me did?

Many Christian preachers have been making references to this verse in the bible, but really what does it mean. Does it say that non Christians or those who doesb't believe it will automatically go to hell or other Religion are not recognised by God.

Okay, I would greatly appreciate it if I ONLY heard from Christians on this. It isn't that I don't value the opinions of others, because I do, it's just that this is more of a Christian matter.
Alright, long story short, I just became recommitted to God, and my husband, who is agnostic, is having a REALLY hard time with it. He's constantly calling me names over it, making fun of it, and swearing more than usual just to annoy me. I had almost broken him of using God's name in vain, but now he's doing it constantly.
He says I'm a "cultist", because I want to go to church, (I just started attending a couple weeks ago) and I love the people there, and the feeling I get from it, so much that I just want to be more involved.
So how can I explain it to him, without preaching? EVERYTHING I say about God, he construes as preaching to him, but I can't stand it when he puts down my God.
If he wants to ask questions, fine. But I shouldn't have to tolerate my own husband...continued...

I've recentely converted from catholocism to christianity becuase i'm convinced that catholics are headed i the wrong direction. As a people. I've spoken to the higher hiearchies of caths and that pretty much get it right. but somewhere down the line it gets screwed up. and people start believing salvation is done through ur good works. Also IN MY OPINION priests ask for alotta money not really focusing on God anymore. anyway heres my thought. I wondered y tehy call the priest father. When Jesus said there is only one Father, in heaven. I asked this girl and she said. They believe God is in their bodies, ok fine then i started to think. God is holy so holy we cannot look at him without dieing. If God posseses those bodies then why have some priests committed adultery and pedifieling? God CANNOT sin for he is God so how do catholics answer this?

You have nothing to lose in accepting Jesus Christ as our savior.
What if there is an after-life? Wouldn't you want to be in heaven?

more rational than an authoritarian supreme being?

21st century Pharisee??

Jesus came and really let the religious people of the day HAVE it!

The ones who judged others, practiced religion and not love, were self righteous and condascending.

I TRY to put this at the forefront of my walk with the Lord through this world. SOmetimes better than others. (thanks Adam!) lol

What to you think about it?? Do you need to repent of this? If so, great!! Honesty RULES!

If not, how do you avoid falling into this trap??

All thoughts are MORE than welcome.....

thanks

DAvid
