So why do people feel the need to report people who answer questions in ways they disagree with? here's proof:
When answering the question: Will you bring me a shiny new God who doesn't kill people?
I responded to a humorous question with much evidence from the bible itself that not only does god kill people, bu he encourages his people to do the same. Yet, I was reported and my response was deleted.
My question is, if you've ever reported someone, and if so, why?
If you saw an answer you didn't agree with, would you jump to the report button like the person who reported me did?

Yeah, I've been reported for vulgarity before, so I prefer not to use it, it's bleeped out or adjusted in some way. But that reason was given as vulgarity, this reason was given as "slur"

My Christian children are addicted to the report abuse button - when the 'offender' is anything but a fellow Christian. I proved this to myself by having an account as a bogus Christian and asking some pretty offensive questions, and answering others in an equally offensive manner. I did not receive a single violation for anything my Christian character asked or answered. However, my real account - I'm an atheist - loses at least 20 points a day. Usually it loses closer to 30 or 40. Now, they can thumbs-down me all they want, and deny it all they want, but I proved it to myself. I didn't even know that when you sign in, you're supposed to get 1 point. I always, ALWAYS, am minus at least 10 points when I sign in to my real account. That's the whole reason for this Yankee Jeebus stuff. I hope they truly are offended now. They deserve to be. I figure if I'm being reported, it's gonna be for a reason, and on a throw-away account.
Edit: Hahahaha! I'm hoping that nobody will really see this question now; that's why I waited to add this: that was my penguin's question, rofl!! Dude, I cracked up when I read your question!

I have reported 8 people so far. Because they used the F word, called blacks unevolved monkeys and called Muslims a lot of things. And I reported a question because he didn't ask a question, he just made rambling statements of religions.
I was just reported this week. I answered a question that made no sense. I can't remember the exact words but it was something like "do we not always get not?" My answer was "Huh?!" and someone reported me for "Not a question or an answer." I went back to that same question and all 5 answers were asking the person "What dude?" "I don't understand" "don't you know english?" Maybe they were all reported too, I don't know.
I seems trivial. But sometimes I see the asker added detail to their first question because they weren't clear. Plus, late at night, I don't think our fingers can find the right keys all the time. I have to delete a lot at night and reread my stuff. Yahoo Answers has their quidelines. But I think most of it is crap. Reporting foul language, racial slurs, sexual content in the religious catergory, and stuff is fine.

Some report because they are offended by a question or answer, some report because they don't like or agree with the question/answer, and some report "because they can". (No reason.)
Lots of questions and answers are deleted when they are not offensive, nor do they violate the community guidelines. They are simply automatically deleted because they were reported. YA uses robots to send the auto responses to the abuser and abusee, then the question/answer is automatically deleted. No humans read the questions or investigate. YA grew way too fast to keep up with this forum, so the "violations" and the way they are handled are all automated. Not fair, I know, but those are the rules of the game, so .... tread lightly., You never know when you are going to offend a trigger happy abuse reporter.
Just don't take it to heart, and keep asking and answering! You aren't alone.

I have reported some people for some things. For example, if their answer or question is insulting towards a Y!A member, I'll report them. I also report impersonators, and especially vulgar posts. They have to be REALLY vulgar for me to report them, though.
The only other thing I report is threats against our federal government.
I refuse to report questions or answers simply because I disagree with them.
Although, there was one guy who once posted these huge long rants against Republicans in the politics section. Now, rants in themselves, I have no problem with, but if they contain threats of violence...oh yeah, I'll report them.
He said he wanted to kill all Republicans, and if a person said they were Republican, he'd kill them if he got a chance. Really nice guy.
I'd report it if he said the same about Democrats. That's just stupid, immature, ignorant, and WRONG.

yes i have reported someone but only because they used curse words in their content which was unnecessary for the question involved. Otherwise i think anyone has the right to their opinion. I just don't see the need for excessive use of bad language is all.

When someone copies and pastes an entire Wikipedia article as an answer to you question, you know it's reporting time. They are so long and annoying, and they discourage other people from answering.

my children sometimes view this sight.
I have to say though I have never seen anyone I reported have their question removed.
although I have had very ordinary answers removed for stupid reasons
