If we're allowed the freedom to worship whatever we want, why do we still have laws based on this religion?

This has been my feeling for years. The celibacy restrictions put on Catholic priests automatically ensures that they will have all the homosexuals lining up? I don't understand how a young man, who's hormones should be raging, can say, "Yeah, I want to never touch a woman for the rest of my life!" I think that priests must have homosexual tendencies to begin with to even consider this way of life!

I'm not saying it's bad, I don't hate gays or Catholics. I just think that Catholics need to wake up to what's going on!

I say it automatically when someone sneezes but I noticed a JW coworker never responds when I say it to her and she never says "bless you". Is this against the JW religion? If so, are they offended by it?

I heard this on YA yesterday and thought it was pretty catchy. (First posting of this Q got deleted for some reason?)

Otherwise we'd have, I don't know, a nation-wide persecution of left-handed people, for instance. Or women. Or even whites.

NOt that I am an advocate of incest, but I am wondering why is it at one time right and then another wrong. So does this mean that eventually not being married to the man that your living with and share your life with would one day not seen as wrong. Or how about homosexuality will that be changed too. Just wondering

Personally I believe that catholics have a very bad heirarchy setup. The pope has to much power for one person and why is their a charge to go to church? we have to pay to go to the catholic "house of god"? I am Orthodox Christian of which was the first Christian religion and yet we are hardly heard of, so many people have broken off for money scams. Why in the hell are people doing this? They call themselfs righteous? What all Christian religions should do is unite as one share beliefes and go over the Whole bible together. They should all just synergize.
Share any thaughts that go along with these topics, I am intrigued as to how people think.

Specifically, and from what I think I know (so some of this may be factually incorrect) but if in Genesis (re: The Bible) God created a perfect world with Adam and Eve then how exactly did sin enter into the equation to entice Eve (or was it Adam?) to do the "first wrong". If we are all to live on Earth to finally die and then go to Heaven then it worries me greatly that Heaven will not be perfect as (and here is my point) that is what I originally thought God created in the first place for us all when I read about the creation of the Universe, Heaven and Earth and Man in Genesis.

Have you ever noticed that children lie, cheat, and steal as soon as they are physically able? Where does this come from? No parents teach their kids these things.

I consider Jesus to be a great teacher. What I want to know is what you have learned from His teachings and do you apply it to your life? I would also like to hear the same from the followers of other great religious teachers as well. And please don't say "Worship God" (or whatever name you have given Him/Her/Them) I think that is a given!

Gays want the right to be happy in private. Christian missionaries go all over the world to spread their lifestyle. Christians don't want gays to have equal rights, and they lobby for it. What does this mean?

I was brought up in a Methodist Church. I along with my other siblings were baptized as an ifant. My father and grandparents were also baptized as an infant. I am now 31 years old with a 3 year old and a 5 month old. I married someone who goes to a non-denominational church. It is a mix between Baptist and Catholic. My mother-in-law and I were driving today and she asked if I had been baptized. I said "yes" when I was a baby. She said that it didn't count and if I wanted to go to heaven I would need to be re-baptized. I an not converting to her church. My mother-in-law went on and on about how Methodist's are the only one who sprinkle the water and that to be truely baptized you had to be dunked all the way. She really upset me with this because I believe along with my family that we are baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost as ifants. Am I wrong. Should I rethink my beliefs?

Why is it that so many people now ignore this parable, or act as if they have ignored it? Jesus was trying to make a point (woah that sounds arrogant, well this is how I interpret it anyway!) that the religious leaders and so-called 'good people' are not always the good people, and people often perceived as irreligious and discriminated against e.g. the Samaritans, can be better than all those 'religious' people out there.

Isn't there still a lesson to be learnt here, judging by this section of yahoo answers?

If knowing and coming to "God" is a Gift of the Holy Spirit how can a gift logically be accepted BEFORE it is actually gifted?

If you as a Christian disagree with "Gail R"s interpretation about "God"
confiring the desire to believe, is " Gail R " not a Christian because her
take is different than yours?

If your God does not instill a desire in me to accept him/her/it as a reality to believe ( & I do get along quite well in life without a "God" concept } isn't
he being unjust & failing in trying to share his alleged "love" with me.

By his failure to instill desire in me for him isn't he ( according to fundamental Evangelical Christianity at least ) condeming me to hell when
he does not necessarily do the same to those that he apparently chooses
to bring to him?

Please try to answer in simple , DIRECT English. I am not at all good in
interpreting Biblical Bable.

I will enjoy your blessings since your God doesn't choose to work his
alleged benevolence on poor me.

This got me thinking; http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/6146292.stm?

If alien life was proved then surely this would undermine a lot of peoples religious beliefs or would they just change tact and say the supreme being (or whoever it is they worship) must have created the alien life as well?

Certainly puts a big question mark over the whole Adam and Eve version of creation!!!

Comments, thoughts, opinions anyone?

I'm specifically looking for somebody to tell me what the actual meaning of life is. I mean, if you believe in Jesus and God then why do we need to live here on Earth now if we all, eventually, go to heaven anyway. It seems, to say the least, rather pointless! I'd rather live in Heaven right now, if it is without pain and suffering...
