If I ask a question about the parts of the bible where god tells someone to enslave, rape or kill (they are all in there) suddenly I am taking things out of context or that's the old testament it doesn't count.
Today I asked if the bible was the definitive word of god and the response from believers was a resounding yes.
That being the case, shouldn't you accept the whole thing and not just the parts you like?

When a soldier dies while in battle, they get a headstone from the government, engraved with the emblem of thier religious faith. There is an entire list of acceptable emblems. If the emblem does not appear on the list, it is not put on the headstone. There is a symbol for Muslims, Christians, and even Athiests on that list, but no symbol for Pagans. This really pisses me off. We Pagans are being discriminated against. How does this make you feel?

Yeah Yeah what if god was one of us? Just a slug like one of us?
Just a stranger on the bus trying to make his way home?

During the presidential campaign of 1880, the Christian Union made the startling admission that, of the nineteen men who, up to that time, had held the office of President of the United States, not one, with the possible exception of Washington, had ever been a member of a Christian church.

Washington did not, like most pious churchmen, believe that Christian servants are better than others. When on one occasion he needed servants, he wrote:
"If they are good workmen, they may be from Asia, Africa, or Europe; they may be Mahomedans, Jews, or Christians of any sect, or they may be Atheists."
His diary also shows that he "closed land purchases, sold wheat, and, while a Virginia planter, went fox hunting on Sunday."

So what do you think?

Calvinists affirm the five points of TULIP:
Total Depravity
Unconditional Election
Limited Atonement
Irresistible Grace
Perseverance of the Saints

Arminians deny all five of these points.

To be consistent, either all five must be affirmed or all five must be denied.

Who is right?

~This is a companion query to "Who past or present would be the most negative representation of Christianity (not Jesus, apostles)" — which is a separate question posted at the same time this question is posted.~

Here's the question: Who in your opinion would be the most *POSITIVE* representation of Christianity, other than Jesus, his disciples and apostles?

~This is a complementary query to "Who past or present would be the most POSITIVE representation of Christianity (besides Jesus, apostles)", which is a separate question posted simultaneously with this one.~

The question before you: Who in your opinion would be the most *NEGATIVE* representation of Christianity? For non-Christians, I'm adding on: "besides Jesus or his contemporaries".

Do we have the power to shape our lives, or are we predestined to be who we are? If our Fate is but one amongst many, then whose life, if anyone's, is real? If our lives are indeed the sum-total of the choices we've made, then we cannot change who we are. But with every new choice we're given, do wo change who we're going to be

I suspect there is from reading some of the replies here on Yahoo Answers. Some Christians are very intelligent, articulate and generally kind. But there are others on here that just amaze me by the willful ignorance they exhibit. It really gets me to hear some of them debate the Theory of Evolution, especially when the claim to be highly educated in science. Those people really hurt their own cause by making such fools of themselves.

I always hear people say that Jesus and God love you but I have to say that I don't think if I was God i would love me very much. I always mess things up and I make promises I don't keep and I fail at doing things all the time. Why would a perfect being love someone like that only to be let down time and time again by that person?
