My gf and I have been together for a long time, over ten years, and she wants to get married, and I don't see the point. I think it is just a big show. What do you think?

I have posted this already, but i woudl really like somemore answers Im interested in the conversation that followed this joke...
I enjoyed it a lot
here it is..

God is sitting in Heaven when a scientist says to Him, "Lord, we don't
need
you anymore. Science has finally figured out a way to create life out
of nothing. In other words, we can now do what you did in the
'beginning.'"

"Oh, is that so? Tell me..." replies God.

"Well, " says the scientist, "we can take dirt and form it into the
likeness
of You and breathe life into it, thus creating man."

"Well, that's interesting. Show Me."

So the scientist bends down to the earth and starts to mold the soil.

"Oh no, no, no..." interrupts God,

( I love this)

"Get your own dirt."

There seem to be some parrallels between relgious believers and people who are 'madly in love'.
Both will see the object of their loved one through rose-tinted glasses. Both cannot stand to hear any outsider criticize their love. Both will believe their lover's statements no matter how absurd they might be. Both selfishly cling to the idea of their love and will not consider 'loving' anything else.
Oh, and eventually, both get their heart broken by lies.

Just curious to know people's opinions on being tested and tried. I know my faith has been tested, but I know God can deliver, and has delivered and healed me in the past. I have a mentally ill parent, and her siblings and family don't help and don't want to be bothered. This has been for about 20 years. I have been through a lot, that people probably wouldn't even believe. A lot of spirtual warfare as well. But because of my covering and ministry I have received I am encourage.

Been lied on, had so-called ministers turn their back on me, and I don't believe that everyone who preaches is called of God. While I was going through the particular minister wouldn't even pray for me. She said she had her own life. At an early age I was exposed to false preachers.

But thank God for bringing me out, because God blessed me with faith. I know he has great things for me.

I think Michael MacDonald sang it. Just a reminder- it goes something like this.. . .. . .Say it loud.. . . say it clear. . . .You can listen as well as you hear.. . . . It's too late.. . .When we die. . . . To admit we don't see eye to eye...... .

We are not going to heaven or hell, right? We are staying on Earth forever, and all those dead will be resurected? Or what will god do in Armaggeddon? Destroy us and the world? WHO HAS THE TRUTH? PLEASE, TELL ME!!

Why do they not publish the credentials of the people that they used to translate their Bible? I am thinking about a Bible study with a Witness and I am wary of using a Bible when the people who translated it cannot be checked out. What if they were wrong in their translations? Who were they? Are they experts in thier field? I am asking this with all due respect. I would like help in finding out this question. Thank you, for any information on this subject because I have asked the person who I am supposed to study with and she does not know.

According to Christianity there was Adam and Eve in the beginning. These were first man and first woman. They had two sons. Cain and Able. Able was killed by Cain and Cain was sent to the land of wandering. ( Nod ) During his stay there, the bible mentions he was married.

Who did Cain marry?
His mother?
His sister?
Is this not incest?
Is incest acceptable to the Christian faith?

I never quite grasped this doctrine, that the wine and bread of the sacrament/eucharist become the actual flesh and blood of Jesus in your mouth. I know Catholics believe it, but am not sure if others do. Your thoughts?

If god really exists (which I am questioning), why leave instructions to so many different tribes... to be interpreted in so many different ways by millions of faithful? Is god applying the old adage of "dividing to better control"? Is God an empiric builder who likes to modify its constructs? Is god bored and in need of seeing its creatures fighting over flawed sets of rules? Or are these writs the products of different human minds of different epochs and culture and thus in contradiction?

thanks for all the horrible replies to my earlier question......jesus was never a real person.....and having FAITH is a weak answer to my question....i was also told to read history...well its obvious that i have ,and you should do the same......im not a bad person and im not trying to bash anyone or anything.....just dont swallow all the bible has to say....common sense should tell u that alot of the bible is incorrect..........remember it was written in a time were if you didnt believe in a certain religion,u were killed.......i believe that has pounded the faith theroy into our heads to this day we use it as an answer to lie to ourselves and abolish the fear......the bible is 66 stories written by 40+ men......and i believe that it was created to obtain power and control over people.......i could be wrong of course.....but you cant prove that jesus was real.......there is no physical evidence to support it...except text..im opened minded to anyone who wants to comment..

Relevant Observations By Notable Scientists

Harold F. Blum, Princeton University physicist, points out that if we assume the presence of amino acids in abundance, assume the proper catalysts are present, and assume favorable temperature and moisture conditions, the chances of getting a polypeptide of only ten amino acids would be only one in 10^20. And this probability, infinitesimal as it seems, is large compared to the probability of getting a simple protein. It is inconceivable. And remember, millions of proteins would be needed for the next step toward life. And remember further that even if complex amino acid chains could be produced, the second law of thermodynamics tells us that they would begin to disintegrate since they are all reversible chemical processes.

These simple and obvious facts of physics and mathematics have caused many notable scientists who have thought logically about the matter to draw...
