I know from personal experience that faith is real and works; yep, it may be a trite answer that people give when they have no idea what to say, but to actually have faith is really difficult. I "know " the Bible is real and true. There's too much "coincidence" with all the instructions on how to deal with every single situation. Yes, the Bible has many contributors- but it is all dictated from the mouth of the one God; He needed His transcribers and they didn't live all that long back then (killing 'cause they didn't believe the right stuff). I'll bet my life though, that if you found the tomb of Christ, that there would be no physical evidence that his bones are still laying there.......But look also at the book of revelation...apart from the freaky beasts, there is an awful lot that is "coming to pass'.........Not looking forward to the freaky beasts, but then I know that when that trumpet calls- I am OUTTA here!!

You have faith in all the history you read from books as well, don't you? We believe what we read or learn. The fact is is that ancient history is pretty much a guessing game anyway. All kinds of philosophers, anthropologists and historians getting together to come up with what they think happened. No one really knows for sure, so we just have faith in these learned mens writings. History of any kind is just a bunch of stories written by a bunch of men that had motivations to write what they did.
There is no proof that Jesus ever existed, but there is no proof a lot of people ever existed. To say that Jesus was never a real person simply because we don't find proof of it is illogical. In history, there is little proof to substantiate anything.

If I were going to give you a one word answer it would be this:
Prophecy.
However I did find an interesting book a while back. It is called "The Brother of Jesus" (subtitle: the Dramatic Story and Meaning of the First Archaeological Link to Jesus and His family) Authors Hershel Shanks and Ben Witherington III
An ossuary (bone box) was found. The inscription was "James son of Joseph brother of Jesus". The book describes this archaeological find.
How cool it that?
Now of course there are those who say that it could have been another guy named James from another Dad named Joseph who had another brother named Jesus.
It will be debated until Jesus returns..... Now back to my first argument. I believe that the bible is the inerrant Word of God. Proofs in the prophetic writings of the bible are all I need.
Read the bible, ask questions, check answers.
Take care -

There are countless books written on the evidence that Jesus walked to earth, and was the Son of God other than the Bible. I don't have to prove He is real, He has already proved it to me. If you in honest prayer ask Him to, He will prove it to you. Also If you read scripture through and don't take it out of context you'll discover that it doesn't contradict itself, because it wasn't written by men (who make mistakes) It was written through men, It was written by Gods Spirit (Holy Spirit). I may not be able to prove God exist to you, but you can not prove that He doesn't. Two more little thing I wanted to bring up, something for you to think about ( I know you want think about any thing else I've wrote because you've decided of these things already.) Why is it that someone who doesn't believe in someone else spend so much time thinking about them? Also ever wondered about that big hole in your heart that you just can't seem to fill, sometimes you can fill it for a little while, but then it opens back up and it cries out ( you know exactly what I'm written about, don't even try to front like you don't) Well that hole is a desire your spirit has for God. We all have it! Only God can make you whole and fill that spot.God Bless you, I've already prayed that you well come to know the truth, so how about you. Are you willing to pray?

Of course there is no evidence that he existed because in the time he did exist there were no museums to save his bones there were no video recorders to capture his miracles and there were no cameras to capture his image. We believe what our forefathers have written and documented. Just like we were not there to see Columbus discover America but it was written and documented by our forefathers so therefore we believe it. God does not want there to be any physical evidence because he only wants "true believers to reside with him in Heaven". This is a test....why would he put all the answers on the board...everyone would pass even those that do not deserve too. God Bless and thank you for having an open mind.

Moses wrote the first 5 books of the Bible approximately 1500 years before the birth of Christ. What was the belief system that people were killed for if they didn't adhere to it in in 1470 BC?
According to Jewish tradition, many of the Old Testament prophets such as Jeremiah, Isaiah, Zechariah and others were martyred for what they believed.
Matthew, Mark, and Luke were all martyred because of their beliefs. There were 2 biblically known attempts on John's life for his beliefs; both attempts were unsucessful. They tried boiling him in oil, but he wouldn't boil. They banished him to the isle of Patmos, but he survived to write the book of Revelation which was given to him while on the island of Patmos. All of the other writers of the epistles were martyred for their faith: Paul, Peter, James, and Jude.
The books of the Bible were written by the men they were named for. So what, exactly, do you mean when you say these books were written at a time when a person must believe a certain way or be killed? What was the belief system that one was supposed to adhere to in order to escape being killed at the time that each of these men were killed - specifically because of what they believed and proclaimed - from the Old Testament prophets to the New Testament followers of Christ?
The Romans kept very accurate records of what went on under their rule. The Roman accounts and records of Jesus' existence and crucifixion are still in existence today.
What information, if I may ask, are you basing these assertions you are making on? And what control did these men who wrote the Bible exercise over people?

In the absence of any faith at all, a person will demand and demand (over and over) for physical proof. Which is what I read in your "question".
However, in the presence of the tiniest amount of faith, the need for physical proof vanishes.
The reality is that, when I thought like you do now, I was NEVER going to get the physical proof I demanded. And, the reality now, now that I have accepted salvation thru Jesus, is that I have no need to spend time or effort chasing "physical proof" rabbits.
I'm very sorry that these, and most likely this one too, answers don't comfort you in your search.

I always laugh when people present the "Bible was written by a few men to gain power and control of many people" argument. It is SO transparently false. Before you stop reading and give me a thumbs down, hear me out.
Christianity as it is truly presented in the Bible, and were it practiced as it was written would be a major THORN in the sides of powerful men.
First of all, imagine the horror of the rich powerful men when people turned away from materialism and the market to solve their problems and turned towards sharing everything they had with the poor.
Imagine the horror of powerful governmental types, when all of a sudden this (to their minds) damn-ed Christ figure usurped their power and authority in the minds of its followers.
Imagine the horror of powerful men, when Christians who believe that Christ really meant it when he said to turn the other cheek, and blessed are the peacemakers, when all of a sudden they were publicly challenged for their desires to make war and conquer other nations.
Christianity, when practiced right, is a major thorn, headache, and stumbling block to the rich and powerful, and thus clearly was NOT written by powerful men in hopes of controlling people.

You may have read up on some history but apparently missed some pretty important facts. Pontius Pilot gave a rather vivid description of Jesus and is part of the records of the Roman Empire. He found no fault in the man. You may find that description to be rather fascinating.

Your saying the eyewitness accounts are not real?
What more can you want?
Many people both of faith and not wrote about Him as eyewitness's.
How are our descendants going to prove you were real?
The whole world changed after Him. You have B.C. and A.D.
And having faith is not a weak answer it just one you don't like. Faith can be a very powerful thing except to those who have none.
