I have posted this already, but i woudl really like somemore answers Im interested in the conversation that followed this joke...
I enjoyed it a lot
here it is..
God is sitting in Heaven when a scientist says to Him, "Lord, we don't
need
you anymore. Science has finally figured out a way to create life out
of nothing. In other words, we can now do what you did in the
'beginning.'"
"Oh, is that so? Tell me..." replies God.
"Well, " says the scientist, "we can take dirt and form it into the
likeness
of You and breathe life into it, thus creating man."
"Well, that's interesting. Show Me."
So the scientist bends down to the earth and starts to mold the soil.
"Oh no, no, no..." interrupts God,
( I love this)
"Get your own dirt."

and I bet the joke was just a lame an hour ago also....
The problem with the joke is that there is no god so it kinda falls apart.

Fair enough, you shift the the debate from origins of life to origins of the universe. The only problem with the "God caused the Big-Bang" theory, is that as a concept, god is as complex as the universe. We're still left with the (harder) question of where god came from? The only answers are cop-outs like "he was there forever" or "we can't know". This is why I feel God is a bad theory and why I am an atheist.

It's an old one. It's cute, except that it promotes religious superstition and implies that human ignorance implies the existence of God.

I've heard it I don't think it's particularly clever. Its only clever if you're a believer because only then would God's argument make sense.
