Christians and others too, I am in search of knowledge and understanding,?

Question

I consider Jesus to be a great teacher. What I want to know is what you have learned from His teachings and do you apply it to your life? I would also like to hear the same from the followers of other great religious teachers as well. And please don't say "Worship God" (or whatever name you have given Him/Her/Them) I think that is a given!

knowledge and understanding isnt a good thing according to christians. the more u read and understand the bible, the more flaws and contradictions u see in it. christians look down on people who know the bible. theres a reason they cant answer half the questions posted on here with answers, so they resort to name calling and condemning to hell.

From Jesus' teaching straight from the Bible..That all are created equal and God doesnt judge people because of who they are,but how they strive to live according to His words..Jesus said "ALL Scripture is good for doctrine(beliefs)"...Jesus doesn't condemn mankind/individuals,as do his followers..He condemns the sins..People seem to forget,He is the Creator..He only can say what is wrong and what is right.We are accountable to Him only.And must find what God wants for us from His Word the Holy Bible,not what some man in a pulpit may say.If it contradicts the Word of God,then its not from God..We must seek God from the source He Gave Us..And always check translations with the original Hebrew or Greek Texts.

He is so much more than a teacher- but if you follow His teachings- you can never go wrong.
I have learned to love others- although I am not perfect at it- I am much better than I was. I have learned that this life is just a blip on the screen of eternity. There is so much more to this world than we can ever imagine.
And I learned that God loves us far more than we could ever love Him.

I have learned that Jesus is more than a great teacher. He is Lord. He is God. Based on His teachings, He cannot be merely a great teacher. He is either a liar, lunatic, or He is Lord. There is no middle ground... based on His teachings.

I just try to take what the scriptures are in the Bible and apply them to my life, for example, if I'm having a tough time, and I feel like I can't get through...I refer to a verse in Philippians, that says I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I try to continually reinforce the scriptures that I know, "whatever you ask in prayer, believing you shall receive, I also know that I have been very Blessed by God and I thank Him for blessing me. Life is very very hard, and I have a pretty good one. He has pulled me through some tough times.... It's not luck, it's God, and I just know it.... I also try to ask myself what Jesus would do in a given situation... When I'm feeling judge mental....I remember that he told the Prostitute...Go, and sin no more, he didn't condemn her in a public forum or try to make her feel hopeless, he treated her with kindness and respect...these types of examples are how I try to live....Hope that makes sense.....

But is united with the Lord of Love.
So I have heard from the enlightened sages.

When you view your body as your temple,
Your mind as your light,
And your soul as imperishable knowledge,
You will come to know the God within you.

And with every step you will strive to re-unite with the transcendental God.

Worship thyself as though you contain an imminent God within you, and love the transcendent God outside of you.

For you contain divinity within you, and God is without you.
Therefore, strive to be re-united with the Father of Creation.
Strive to be united with the Lord of Love.

Approach your innermost being with love,
And you will see unimaginable bliss.
Here in this very life.

Quite a bit.

I have learned tolerence, acceptance, loving others even when they are acting unlovable, the need for forgiveness, the nature of sin in my life, all of which I have incorporated into my life. I am a father, a husband, a deacon in my church serving others and showing the love that God has for me.

Everything that Jesus teaches works to ones benefit, so why not apply them? Religion is for the heartbroken and downtrodden, which I am neither thanks to putting into practice all that Jesus teaches.I am now free to sit here and answer questions, or not. No external demands. Follow his teachings, you will like it.

if you want to know how cool Jesus really was, try doing some research about parts in the bible (like learning about their customs on Wikipedia).
He was really above it all when it came to wisdom, and just never doing what the world expected. i find it odd that so many rebels hate the bible, when Jesus was in fact the greatest rebel ever to rebel against this world...there is some wisdom in rebelling....which is why i Love Jesus!

i agree that Jesus was a great example and even those ( like myself ) can learn a lot from his teachings

the most important one for me is turing the other cheek
i have used this throughout my life , even as a child ... and nothing is more frightening to the bully than someone stands to take it ..
i have came away from many things with a sore cheek ....
they have came away with very red ones lol
