Has there been any scientific study on the genetics of homosexuality? Have we found the core genetic cause yet? If we haven't found the actual gene has there been any credible research done to determine if is actually a genetic trait (i.e. if a male and female homosexual have sex for some reason, is there a pattern to the likelyhood that they will have homosexual offspring?(dominant and recessive gene study))

I have found that I am able to discuss my beliefs much more openly and honestly with my friends here on Yahoo! Answers. I am honest about my beliefs with my 'real life' friends but I am much more open here. Perhaps it is because I am behind a computer screen but it feels like I have a connection with many of you. I've never met so many people before who have shared my convictions, interests, beliefs, and sense of humor.

How about you guys? Are you guys more open here...or is it just me?

Case in point from the news:

Sex Discrimination Commissioner Pru Goward said Hilali's comment was an incitement to rape and that Australia's Muslims should force him to resign. "This is inciting young men to a violent crime because it is the woman's fault," Goward said. "It is time the Islamic community did more than say they were horrified. I think it is time he left." Hilali is the top cleric at Sydney's largest mosque, and is considered the most senior Islamic leader by many Muslims in Australia and New Zealand. Hilali triggered a controversy in 2004 for saying in a sermon in Lebanon that the Sept. 11 attacks were "God's work against the oppressors.">

In todays age we have contributed alot of peoples odd behavior as being not of the social norm, and we even catergorized these behaviors as schitzophranic, split personalitie disorders, bi polar, manic depressant, or just plain psycho.
Now we are also aware that with some of these odd behaviors such as talking to yourself in second and third persons, halllucinating, that this could be from the effect of drugs(chemicals) In which is found in plant life. Now based on that could it be possible that the very beliefs we have structured from the prophets about jesus, god and burning bushes was really just an effect of chemicals from the plant life he digested, and did not have the vast learning tools we have today to know what he was, or was not experiencing. Today if someone was behaving in such a way would we not first think he was on drugs, or had a mental disorder. Is it ridiculous to suggest that Jesus was a man who was stricken with a mental disorder, compiled with chemicals of plant

CONSCIENCE ( ANTARMAN )
Conscience in the computer memory inside our body, taking help of which we major our moral values. What ever feeding is given in it during our childhood days, it reacts accordingly. Whatever has been incorporated in our inner mind since the childhood and whatever our superiors have made us understand regarding sins and virtues, our computerized conscience reacts accordingly. And, according to that only the moral character of an individual is made. When we send the decision to the conscience it responds according to the memory fed in it whether the decision is the bad one or a good one. The meaning is – our conscience is fabricated or been incorporated to us. The scene of slaying of a goat slitting through its neck does not have any impact on a Muslim, where as the same scene is a heinous act for a Jaini.
The concept of sins or virtues is different for a Jaini than that of a Muslim, when both are human beings. Thus, this dual measurement system is created only by us. A baby born and brought up in wild without any mentor can do anything with least hesitation. For him every act is legal according to the need of his body. By over imposing the sense of sins-virtues on human being, we have made his life difficult. In the name of ‘moral discipline’, we have forcibly gained control over his elementary wishes and over his mentality. We made him understand so much about sins-virtues that the restriction imposed on him has made him scared of fulfilling even his basic needs. Scared, he is getting away from the pleasure of life. Man cannot get deep into love. Everything gets grounded with fear. Some saint or god come in between a loving couple. The calculation starts taking place. For the fear of getting ill health, they don’t get themselves involved properly. And, this incomplete ‘love making’ results in a mental depression. A healthy sex is the cause of your birth, is the cause of your mental development. But, we always think the opposite. The sheet of ‘guilty consciousness’ gets covered on the ‘life giving’ factor (strength). And, a man becomes ill tempered or frustrated. Sex is the only way for a man to get into deep of concentration. Through the medium you are born, the same will take you out or the boundary of birth-death. It is a tedious task to achieve ‘thoughtless stage’ by means of any other act. Rather than dying with reluctance, it is better to give a ‘different point of view’ to the life. Give the joy to others and keep yourself in joy. Every act in this world is legal if comes under basic requirements and, if it exceeds the requirement level the same thing or act becomes the cause of miseries.

I am islamic and am far from barred from this truth. But at least I respect other paths that are not of mine. My religion even teaches me that I don't know. "And allah knows what all knows not"-quran. But I walk my path and respect others. Because it is all GOD's. PEACE!

BTW- I am no fanatic, so please don't judge all muslims by that of terrorism and what the media portrays.

If you were an omnipotent god, (you can have anything you want) would you CHOOSE a system whereby you'd have to kill your kid in order to redeem your creation? I've just never understood how this could possibly be true.

Follow up question from yesterday. Yesterday I asked what brought you here. Now I want to know what keeps you coming back.

Is if TWSIDR for a laugh?
Is it Mav for a smile?
Jim_Darwin for a thought provoking discussion?

Is it to debate, or to discuss your beliefs with others who share them with you?

I see Christians ask Atheists day after day why they frequent this section...maybe this will be a chance for them to finally see why.

Please state your religious affiliation and what brings you here - whether you are Muslim, Atheist, Christian, Agnostic, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Wiccan, Pagan, whatever ... I wanna know.

I am agnostic. For me, it's all of the above and more. I like the thought provoking debates, shared interests and beliefs, seeing the other side's point of view, the laughs, and the fellowship.

The Bible refers to God as a "He", and many people argue that man is created in God's image, but does that really make any sense? As we all know, what distinguishes a male from a female is the reproductive system. As far as we know, God is a spirit, not a human or an animal, so does it even make sense for God to have a reproductive system? Yes, according to Christianity, he fathered Mary's child, but there is no indication that there was a sexual union between them. (She's not called the Virgin Mary for nothing, you know!)
