At my job there are people from various beliefs- from Catholic to Agnostic to Jehovah's Witnesses to undecided. What I like about them is the way we can discuss our differing views without hostility. They bring literature about their different views and everybody is really relaxed about the whole thing - no sarcasm or name calling. Personally I have learned a lot from these discussions. From how to calm down when clients call in.- to how to feel hopeful about people ( that is that there are still decent people out there who want a better world) I have learned about how to find scripture from the Witness, about tradition from the Catholic, about how and why people have become agnostic, but that not all Agnostics are closed minded. From the undecided I have learned that search is a good thing. There are often more questions than answers, but there are more answers that many of us realize.
I sometimes find a lot of hostility, sarcasm and closed-mindedness on Yahoo; but I have seen some whose questions and answers are genuine and sincere and sometimes funny without being disrespectful.

I'm much more open here than in real life. One of the reasons I started coming here was to learn how to be more open to discussing my beliefs with "real" people. I know... it's weird, right? A Mormon who needs to be MORE out going? But I honestly don't share my beliefs with anyone in the real world, not even my non-member parents, unless I'm asked a direct question about my faith.

Where I live in the UK religion is pretty much a side issue and I don't discuss my beliefs with many people. As an atheist who has family members that are involved in the church I also feel it's better to avoid upsetting anyone by challenging their beliefs.

I don't know if it's better or worse to be more open online. There is really no accountability in anonymity. But then again. I think people lie about their religion or lack thereof on this site. I see alot of members here that seem to waver back and forth. I have seen one person here claim three different faiths at different times.
I pretty much will talk to anyone who cares to listen about my religious beliefs online or offline. I think most people are that way.

I still have an easier time talking to my friends in person than over the Internet. I don't really have a any Yahoo friends, partly because I'm still learning how to do that and figure out how the Yahoo 360 page works.

No, I'm much more open in person...it's hard to have an honest sharing dialogue through the computer, not to mention those who don't really want to share but simply want to rant.....I've always enjoyed debate and discussion and my friends and family and I engage respectfully in our sessions!

I am open with my husband and daughter, more guarded with my parents and I carefully avoid the topic with other people. I suppose that is why I am here. I look for debate to strengthen my beliefs but without getting punched in the nose!

I don't really discuss my beliefs around my friends in the real but I don't have a problem discussing to a bunch of people I don't know.
I don't want to stir problems with the people I see everyday.

I can say alot more on Yahoo. Many of my friends are Christians, and I do not have a high opinion of Christianity. So, I keep my mouth shut when with friends, but, I say what I think here.

I quite believe Icarus, yet i might upload a pair of provisos. i think of that possibly maximum persons interior the united kingdom are quite atheist or agnostic, yet i think of that a quite great share them (exceedingly older ones) are not truly conscious of their own agnosticism, and picture they suspect in God. yet then they prove to no longer truly have self belief in any of it and say issues like, "properly, ok, no longer in a strictly literal experience..." I additionally discover that there are astonishing wallet or religiosity, specifically circumstances fairly severe. those are frequently no longer very geographically marked, yet they could be. quite a few the Scottish islands are especially non secular, and sectarianism rears its head in Northern eire and the Glasgow section, which it is beneficial to call non secular. for many persons it is possibly in basic terms a controversy of labels, yet i think it could specifically circumstances motivate religiosity. yet yeah, it is exceedingly consumer-friendly to be an atheist in Britain. i do no longer think of you have have been given a topic except your loved ones is quite non secular. i won't be able to think of it might impact absolutely everyone's probabilities of having elected, as i think is the case interior the US. Being somewhat loudly non secular could, although.
