I pity the fool who takes his spirituality and takes it for granted. Most people tend to forget that it is like a package. Spirituality is what is on the inside. Religion is the box in which said spirituality is housed. However, most people tend to be more interested with the wrapping of the package than what's inside.

Meditation is a temporary escape from the self. Many people do the same thing with a few beers, or experimenting with drugs. Do you see a difference?

Are they not the same people that live in Jordan? When Palestine was partitioned, why did some become Jordanian citizens, while others live in refugee camps in the West Bank and Gaza? Is it true most of the current "palestinian" population consists of people from places other than Palestine?

Can you either share a really one time where it was either really touching/rewarding OR one time where it was just super fun? PLEASE be respectful to those who don't go to church and use language and terms that can be understood by regular folk. Thanks.

I know most atheists are very strong in their belief, but I was wondering if any atheists would be willing to have an open mind and pray and ask God if he is real to reveal himself to them in their hearts?

I used to pray, read the bible, and meditate on God's word every morning. I've slipped away from my daily study for about 4 years due to some major life changes. I'm trying to get back into having a quiet time with God again. What do you do for your quiet time?

i know the bible says that it is through faith and not by works that people are given eternal salvation,
but here in america (it being a considerably christian nation),
a high percentage of people are christian specifically because their parents instilled it in them.
If you are born in very christian nation, and you are very likely to be christian yourself because of the sociological prominence of that religion here, doesn't that make the whole "faith" part of it arbitrary?
shouldnt caring about your fellow man and loving him as you should love god be the deciding factor as to whether some one is worthy of salvation.
what does it matter if you technically believe in god in this situation?

A. If given the opportunity, be with 5 (or more if you like) of the most beautiful women on earth of your choosing. Women same thing, although choose your fantasy however you want it to be (whatever guy or girl, or whatever)

OR

B. Repent, Pray for forgiveness, try to spend the last day doing good, helping others, telling people youre sorry, etc. Spending it in church.

only two options here, if you had to choose one.

Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord
And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh in all. - I Corinthians (12:4-6)

I have to say that, for me, it gives me the chance to use fundie/ID logic... and then have all of the fundies & IDers tell me that such arguments are stupid, illogical, and juvenile.

The trouble that they seem to have is realizing that these "stupid, illogical, and juvenile" arguments are simply THEIR OWN, with a quick find & replace job of using "FSM" instead of "God"

Someday they'll realize that the more they insult my FSM arguments, the more they're actually insulting the fundie/IDer arguments. ... at least someday I HOPE they will realize this. I haven't seen any evidence of it yet, but I pray to the FSM that it'll happen eventually!

ITALIAN BOY CONFESSION

Bless me Father, for I have sinned. I have been with a loose woman.
The priest ask, "Is that you, little Johnny Parisi?

Yes, Father it is.

And who was the woman you were with?

I can't tell you , Father. I don't want to ruin her reputation.

Well, Johnny, I'm sure to find out her name sooner or later, so you may as well tell me now. Was it Tina Minetti?
I cannot say.
Was it Teresa Volpe?

I'll never tell.

Was it Nina Capeli?

I'm sorry but I cannot name her.

Was it Cathy Piriano?
My lips are sealed.

Was it Rosa Di Angelo, then?
Please, Father, I cannot tell you.

The priest sighs in frustration. You're very tight lipped, Johnny Parisi and I admire that.
But you've sinned and have to atone. You cannot attend church services for 4 months.
Now you go and behave yourself.

Johnny walks back to his pew, and his friend Nino slides over and whispers,

What'd you get?
Four months vacation and five good leads........

Materialism leads to determinism, leads to rationalism, leads to atheism, leads to nihlism. Sorry, these are simple conclusions that cannot be obfuscated.
