I used to pray, read the bible, and meditate on God's word every morning. I've slipped away from my daily study for about 4 years due to some major life changes. I'm trying to get back into having a quiet time with God again. What do you do for your quiet time?

I pray, read the bible, meditate. I may miss a day, but not weeks or years. Seek Him out again, He is eager to spend time with you again. Get up 20 minutes early and read the proverb of the day. (There are 31 Proverbs, read the one for the date of the month.) That would be a good start. God Bless you!

This is a wonderful question. Very refreshing to find it. I may not have the answer you are looking for, but I do have some insight.

Life has a way of invading every personal moment, and the older you get, the more it seems increasingly difficult to secure "quiet time."

I suggest that you try a different approach. While your previous regimen was structured for focused study every morning, it may now be the time for you to snag "the moments between," to apply what you've studied to the moment at hand, to see how what you've studied applies to that particular experience.

I'm talking about applying the lessons you've learned/studied to the real life experiences you are having, when they happen to you. It's like an illustration of the text.

Life isn't a dress rehearsal. While you have "the guidelines for the basic plot," you must also learn to see the teachings in practice. It's like, one day, you say, "ah, so THAT'S what they were talking about! Now, I see what I was supposed to DO with that information/lesson." You may very well be in another phase of your spiritual education.

Having said all that, if you are still seeking to preserve a study time, then you need to take control and structure your schedule so that you make time for what's important to you. Get up an hour earlier, go to bed an hour later, or do whatever is necessary, if you miss the study time that much.

But, I really think you are probably just moving from "Junior" to "Senior," or, from "Theory" to "Applications." :) Bottom line is, if you want it, you will make it happen. But, remember, God is everywhere, in every moment, and He will always listen, and always answer.

It doesn't have to be so rigid, unless that's what you want.

The quiet time with God adjusts the clock of our life. We may be going too fast or maybe too slow. When we stop to pray, read and meditate on the Word, God is infused into our being and we are changed little by little into the same image.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”- 2 Timothy 3:16-17

2 Corinthians 3:18
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

What to do in the quiet time?
Pray that the Lord will open your heart and speak as you wait on Him.
Confess your sins.

It is good to read through the Bible, cover to cover, but in this quiet time, take a few verses in Psalms or another book of the Bible and read a little, then pray a little. You may be surprised how infused you will become,

You can keep a small note book of things the Lord speaks to you through the Word. Make note of prayer requests and date answered prayer.

Then take your hymnal and go through a hymn book. Either read or sing aloud.

May the Lord bless your quiet time with Him.

I do have one, but it isn't always in the morning. I find that I can't always pay attention the best in the morning so sometimes I will do it between my classes and hang out at my house for a while or have it before bed. I usually read part of a devotion book, sing a worship song, and pray. If you don't have a worship CD I would suggest going to your closest christian book store (Lifeway/ family christian/ etc) and look into wow worship, passion, or top 30 worship songs. They are great to get you in the right attitude for worship. If you are available for God to do things in your life, He will make any amount of time you give Him meaningful.

This is a good point. I try to be with nature to experience god. Even in the city ther eis a bit of grass or a tree or just the sky, I try to be with that to sense life.
But I likeyour suggestion to have a quiet time in the morning, thank you.

I try to do it every day. In my time, I put on some worship music and pray. After that, I look into the bible and see if I can find any good scriptures.

I agree. That is the best way to start the day! The whole day is blessed when you start with prayer and meditation on God's word!

We should give God the "firstfruits" of everything....that includes the first part of each day!
