Can you either share a really one time where it was either really touching/rewarding OR one time where it was just super fun? PLEASE be respectful to those who don't go to church and use language and terms that can be understood by regular folk. Thanks.

More than just "fun" to me it's about having a support group. We share good times - we help each other out by taking dinners to new moms who just came home from the hospital, we go to family functions such as fairs and festivals, we hang out on the boat together, we go to the park, we go to movies, we do regular things. We also share the bad times - we comfort each other in the loss of a loved one, we offer a shoulder to cry on, an ear to hear, a heart to love and a mind to advise. To me this is what "Christian fellowship" is all about. It's taking it outside the church walls. It's finding solutions to everyday problems based on God's word and offering support to those struggling. It's about every day life but living it based on WWJD (what would Jesus do?).

I am a Christian, but everytime I hear the words "Christian" and "Fellowship" in the same sentence, it creeps me out because I think of the cult-like group that somehow I got associated with in college. They were overly rightous, over bearing, and snotty, and everytime they wanted something, they would "pray" to have it...like one girl prayed she would get a car. How can you pray to get a car when there are impoverished children in the world? Anyway, I digress...all I wanted to do was "fit in" as a freshman in a big university, and these people really rubbed me the wrong way. But it is not only that...I have felt that I've never fit in with church-y people (and LORD knows I've tried!) because they always seem so above everyone else. And also because I don't enjoy singing as a group, it makes feel uncomfortable, and it always seems like any Christian fellowship gatherings break out into happy ditties about Jesus. I even volunteered my time a few years back to play my flute for 10 o clock mass on sundays at my church with the other music people, and during practice one night, I heard the music director tell his wife that I was terrible. I quit because I was so embarassed. So anyway...I've tried to be fellowship-y with my fellow Christians, but it has never quite worked out.
I feel close to Christ when I garden, and I've found there is a myriad of ways to think about our Lord's love when working with my hands in the dirt and bugs and flowers.

I've always known that going to church does not get you to heaven, but it is very important to be around people who are also believers. Looking back, I can see how the times that I was in church, I was strengthened by other believers, I read the bible more often, I trusted in God more. And then I can see how the times when I was not in church, I moved farther and farther away from God and picked up bad habits from co-workers, such as filthy language. I began to trust God less. I wanted Him to fix all of my problems immediately, instead of just trusting in Him and waiting on Him.

To me it is being around fellow Christians and discussing Christ and Christ like behavior in everyday life. We do that alot in my Sunday School class and some classes I have taken at night at church. I enjoyed it because it helps to talk about things you encounter on a daily basis where you're not sure what you should do as a Christian.

I believe everyone has a passion...And Christians like to gather because it is said where two or more are gathered in my name there i am there also..... I like to gather with my fellow christians because it fills me with joy and happiness.... They are a comfort to me, and a blessing to me.... I like to share the Glory of God with them..... Some people may have a passion for something totally different... I draw strength from each service I go to, and from each meeting I have with my fellow christians.... And it is the common bond that ties us together.... We share the desire to serve God Almighty... it is really fun for me each time I gather with my Christian Friends

Being around people with the same love for Christ and the same purpose in life - serving Him. In my church, it's just amazing how you can meet someone just once and already feel connected to them in Christ love
