isn't the idea of religions to suppress free will and coerce actions against your 'natural' inclinations?

can a christian be a free thinker? I think so....they are on thier way out the door of limited thoughts and reason and expanding to open mindedness and doing own thinking and research...

here's to hoping!

if some religions are about 'submission' how can we say we are free to choose (with dire social consequences of conditional support based on our choices)?

Who would you prefer to spend eternity with?
People that obey you blindly and praise you incessantly, or free thinkers that could offer you some kind of variety? I would imagine that praise gets old after a while.

Jesus say, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations...teaching them to observe all things I have commanded you..."? (Matt. 28:19-20)

He does not say, 'go, and be active in your nation's politics'.

Many, if not most, christian religious leaders are saying that "the church" should spend it's time and resources doing things other than loving one another and making disciples of all nations. Their people are told we need to use political means to advance the Kingdom of God. Their people are told they are to fight against moral evil and to fight to preserve our 'rights'. Their people are told to keep their minds on the world's kingdoms (governments) and battles and to use the world's means (political power) to fight those battles.

This is another false gospel leading people away from God. Jesus says, "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight...". (John 18:36) Many religious organization leaders say, "Jesus' kingdom is manifest in this world through political means, so get fighting."

Who do you believe, Jesus or the voices of those prominent religious leaders?

Genesis 39 (Read entire Chapter)

7 ...and after a while his master's wife took notice of Joseph and said, "Come to bed with me!"

8 But he refused. "With me in charge," he told her, "my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care. 9 No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?" 10 And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her.

11 One day he went into the house to attend to his duties, and none of the household servants was inside. 12 She caught him by his cloak and said, "Come to bed with me!" But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house.

Why do groups use their "Holy Books" to gloryify themselves rather than the messages. All three religions worship one God and revere most of the same holy people. Jews and Muslims accuse Christians of worshipping three gods when in fact the Trinity is an explanation that divinity exists in 3 dimensions (creator, creation, bond between one and two). That's a simple explanation. Why do Christians and Jews deny Muslims their right to hold Muhammad as their prophet? Why Christians and Muslims denounce Jews for not accepting Jesus as their Messiah? Why do religious people deny Athiest their perspective on life? We can all comprimise and agree that we all believe somewhat differently. Why can't this be accepted?

What does that guy on the loudspeaker talk about at 6:30 in the morning? My platoon sergeant and commander gave me their version, but I would like to hear what you all say it is. Is it really prayers? The Iraqi contractors never stopped to pray when the loudspeaker guy came on. I always noticed that.

"Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment"; and "You have rightly judged."; and "Yes, and why, even of yourselves, do you not judge what is right?"; and "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves". (Jesus' Words in John 7:24; Luke 7:43, 12:57 and Matt. 23:15)
There is an extremely serious error that is being believed by the vast majority of people caught up in christian religion. This error is literally making those folks unwilling and unable to discern truth. And what is this error? It is believing that all "judgment" is wrong. If this is true, then what is to be made of Jesus' Words above? In the verses above, Jesus clearly commands people to judge, commends people for judging, and judges himself.
