It's actually cats in general, but black cats get hit the worst because it was believed that a witch would turn into a cat at night to carry out her dastardly deeds. A black cat in the night is less likely to be noticed where as a white cat in the shadows would stand out like a wart on your nose. This ability to sneak around unseen in the dark, gives black cats a sinister reputation. People are scared of things that they cannot see. Black is also associated with chaos and evil so the poor black cats don't stand a cat in hells chance against christians :p

I have a black cat along with 2 others (different colours) and I'm not a witch.

I don't know, but, honestly, a lot of the Wiccans I knew had a black cat. They liked the stereotype and the cat. They thought it was funny.

people will always question or throw accusations at things they do not understand.
witches have many different familiars not just cats, although the cat is part of the steriotypical image that people have of witches, along with pointy black hats, warts and broomsticks,
so please don't worry about it kitty, just put it down to ignorance.
