This is a very common experience. Many people don't share it publicly because they fear being called crazy.

It is a part of the grief reaction. I've seen my younger brother at the oddest moments. It occurs less frequently as time passes. I remember when my maternal grandmother died, my mother cried to me telling me of the many times she would see her mother briefly doing common things.

I never felt that I was seeing my brother's spirit, but that I was glimpsing his actual presence. A quick glance always brought be back to reality. It never lasted as long as a second for me.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is you are not alone. It is so common among grieving people that it is considered a normal part of the process. It will get better. If it does not, or if your life is adversely affected in some significant way already, then see your doctor. You may be experiencing a pathological grief reaction if things worsen. Grief, generally, is hard, but normal and common.

You are in my prayers. May God grant you the peace that passes all understanding.

Ignore people who tell you this is just grief, or you were drunk/on drugs. They have no right to demean your experience like that. Reality is merely the things our brains are able to perceive and there are more things in Heaven and Earth Horatio.

I can't pretend to know the answer to your question and I think it's foolish to even guess. My own experience leads me to believe that our bodies are just shells, and that we can have more than one life on this earth. I'm also convinced we can transcend our physical being in ways that we don't even notice.

I am actually science educated and I think it's a shame that a lot of my very bright peers won't keep an open mind about things like this. Einstein was a genius and made breakthroughs because he refused to see the world the way other people did. Maybe we'll never find explanations for this kind of thing, but we certainly won't if people keep dismissing the experiences of others.

This may have been because your brain has a record of that person - many images repeated over and over from when they were alive. You turn to look at something and that person appears to be there for a split second.

Powerful emotions such as grief can cause such things to happen. Perhaps wanting to see them again, your brian threw out an image, an overlay if you like, and that person appeared to be there.

This is a similar phenomenon to people who have a nose job and see themselves in the mirror out of the corner of their eye from time to time with the old nose shape. It is a repeated image stored in the brain and so you see it for a moment before your brain connects up with current reality.

There are many other more spiritual reasons, but I thought this idea would give you another way of looking at this.

It depends on your religious or spiritual views. I guess what you were seeing was a vision brought on by your grief at dealing with the death of someone close.

However, that is only my view as I am an atheist, and the chances of me seeing someone in spirit form is remote.

If it gives you comfort and support during this time, then embrace it.

A lot of people experience this. While having someone die is no treat, consider yourself one of the lucky ones. When people die, they often don't have the chance to say goodbye. This can give them the opportunity. Having someone leave us in death is always hard, but this may be one way that it is made easier. Just know, you are not alone in this kind of experience.

You saw them because you were close to them. Your interpretation of the Bible is incorrect. Eternal life is not conditional. There are no strings. Life is eternal, regardless. There is no deity so selfish as to insist you do something to win His "love". You always have been eternal, and this one you saw wants you to understand.

It is a matter of the heart and of love. Your loved one was thinking of you.

It is also so that you know we are born into and live in the spiritual world and the natural world at the same time.

despite what any book says should or shouldnt happen .. if it happened then you know it is true
you may have some mediumistic abilities .. and can see those who have passed over
this is a beautiful thing to be able to do
and if you wish to develop it in any way , then you could go to a spiritualist church and ask about their development nights
xx

It sounds as if you have mediumistic abilities. It would be a good idea to get some training in this so that you have control over it - or can learn to use it more fully if you wish.

The Bible clearly says the dead knows nothing and there will be a resurrection when Jesus comes for those that are dead in sleeping in the grave - 1 Thessalonians 4. Your mind is playing tricks on you.
