Seriously, is Marxist stuff the best you can come up with? Opiate of the masses? Or agent for change? A lot of activism is based on Christianity. Get yourself a coffee and a donut and actually read what people write.

It is a reasonable question. I think the Old testament was written by Jews who were well known for taking down historical things in great detail. They are great historians. I believe the New testament was written by the disciples of Christ, which explains why there is variation in the 4 major gospels. You put 4 people in the same room on opposite sides of each other and each with have a different view of the goings on. One may catch something the other missed. The rest of the NT was written letters to churches at the time being visited by the disciples. Revelations was penned by John as it was given him in a vision from God.
Take it for what you will Jibba, that is the best way I can explain it to ya. Love ya though...you ask some tough questions sometimes.

I think the bible was probably just another great novel, an entertaining story written by an author with a grand imagination. I have read it cover to cover more than once..good read, but hardly believable. I could no more believe in Harry Potter.

Naa it's more of a mix between very easily caught moral and some action thrown in to keep the interest up. Just like any Children's TV show.
Most people grow up to decent people anyway.

A male dominated society wrote the bible to control the lower class. Men went house to house sharing the word for food and lodge. Is it really that trustworthy???

or killing each other and eating each other isn't good?
or lying to each other is wrong?

Do you believe a lie and call it truth?
The bible was never to keep people in "line." Look at the NAZIS; they burned more bibles than you can count to keep people in "line."

The Bible was inspired by God, if you can't accept that, which obviously you haven't, then I feel very sorry for you. I will pray for you.

Why don't you read the Bible before you criticize it. How can you criticize a book before reading it?
