If faith in your religion is the answer to all your problems then what prevents you from flying a plane into a building or burning people at the stake?

Why are there alcoholic preists?

Why are there more churches in economically depressed communities? Why don't those communities seem to get better?

I am a person of faith (Buddhist), so this is only constructive criticism. I will not pick anything hateful as a best answer.

DON'T FORGET TO READ HIS QUESTION ABT ISLAM.....

I said literal since, because I feel I'm the son of God, but not in the literal since that I was implanted into a virgin, or I am Gods only begotten son, but in a since that "IF" God created the world and all thats in it, then that makes him my father, and since Jesus said not to call anyone father untill he returns then ~*moving my hand looking for ansers in the air *~.

I know that somewhere in the bible after Matthew and mark there is a passage that dispute this, that Mary and her sons didn't pretty much call him crazy, and that Mary was by his side when he died, which she wasn't (two other Marys but not his mother), and what else when jesus pretty much denied them as his family, "who is my mother, who is my brother", 'you are all my mothers, you are all my brothers", or basicaly saying those who believe in me are my family(this last line you all are going to knock me for, but that how i interpreted that line in the bible).

The pope says something stupid, what's new? He's an old silly man, who has only a symbolic function on this planet. You can agree or disagree with the symobolism of his job, but it's still just an old man with a symbolic job.

He made the connection between Islam and violence. Reaction from some muslim-groups to disprove this: threaten the pope with violence...That's kinda what the pope was talking about, you silly people!

All the muslims I know won't agree with that small group of violent muslims. All the Catholics I know won't agree with the generalized statement of the connection between Islam and violence.

So, why is this such a big issue? Why don't Muslims just laugh about it, and mock the pope? It would do their cause much more good.

The pope also quoted a 14th-century Byzantine emperor who said innovations introduced by the Prophet Mohammed were "evil and inhuman,,,

why quote what some person said 700 years ago.

if pope really wanted peace between christians and muslims,, then whats the need of quoting that ??? why not to quote what other non-muslims says about Muhammad pbuh.

"His readiness to undergo persecutions for his beliefs, the high moral character of the men who believed in him and looked up to him as leader, and the greatness of his ultimate achievement - all argue his fundamental integrity. To suppose Muhammad an impostor raises more problems than it solves. Moreover, none of the great figures of history is so poorly appreciated in the West as Muhammad." [W. Montgomery Watt, MOHAMMAD AT MECCA, Oxford, 1953, p. 52.]

"Muhammad was the soul of kindness, and his influence was felt and never forgotten by those around him." [Diwan Chand Sharma, The Prophets of the East, Calcutta 1935, p. l 22.]

I have just watched Tony Robinson's programme on Channel 4 (UK) about the End Times, which is entitled the Doomsday Code.

http://www.channel4.com/culture/microsites/C/can_you_believe_it/index.html

I found it very interesting. I would like to point out that I am a Christian, this question is not about faith in that sense, it is about people's views on the book of revelations.

Should it be taken literally? Is it a standard Christian view point to be 'an Endtimer'? What about the Rapture, who here thinks that it will happen? Any ideas on when?

Another point I would like to raise is about Noah and Job. If I understand correctly, the world was flooded because basically people had sex with whoever they chose. "the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose." Genesis 6:2

Is it not true that a city was destroyed because of similar occurences? This is told in Job I believe.

can you show me that God exists without pointing to a religious book or by quoting religious doctrine?

Seems God did not rest on the seventh day until he first let the host of them (prepared for war), their heavens and earth, be finished(endead: sin, when "it is finished", brings forth death); and then God ended(finished) his work he had "made" of created/made (presenting his grace us case, in the matter of law vs grace), and then God rested from all his work which he had "made"(such as Christ being "made" perfect.

Perhaps God knows ya can't get any true rest with pesky in-laws around, unless ya let em have their end: Life + Death = Dead End. Good riddance to host of them (prepared for war, and not peace).

If any man(adult) be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
If any bring another gospel, let him be accursed.
For "their end" shall be according to "their works".
When they say Law & Law, destruction for "them".
But the end also written is notably so "none perish".

The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Comments: besides you're reported by law law tatle tale

To all who differ; incl Muslims who think Christ a prophet only ! Listen here to the words of Christ
Rev 22v 13
"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, THE FIRST AND THE LAST."

This question is primarily directed at Christians because almost all Muslims are close-minded, so its a waste to try and change their hatred for ahteists/agnostics who they regard as "pagans".

I dont understand the hatred that comes from "some" Christians for atheists. The biggest threat in the world today is Islamic terror, yet some of you morons still wanna bash atheists/agnostics?

Cant we get a time-out here? An application of the "enemy of my enemy" principle?

Dose not common sense tell you that just because we were born into a certian faith that it might not be correct. Isn't research in truth needed? If most churches got rid of their man made traditions they would know what to beleive.Example; the Christmas celebration and easter celebrations predate Chris over a thousand years. The christian trinity came 250 years after Christ. Started by Constantine. Oh well quess I started enough troubl for one day.
Good bye friend

My personal opinion is that it is not. when I asked the question 'does god hate logic for turning away so many believers' I had most people say 'If you would use a little logic you would realize that he does.' So, trying not be close minded, I considered this answer...mayb i am the one who is not being reasonable...Tell me where my logic is flawed, I am interested in the whole god thing I just can't bring myself to believe:

This is one of the most common arguments:

Why believing in god is logical- (1) Look How perfect everything is formed...do you believe it could just have happened by chance?

(1) My logic tells me that it is unreasonable to believe that explanation because it is the same logic being used when going up to a puddle and saying: How perfect that hole is made to fit that puddle! Besides, if creation would require intelligence then who created the creator? He is and always was doesn't cut it because that is just throwing the explanation onto something beyond...

quoting the AP:
Benedict "thus sincerely regrets that certain passages of his address could have sounded offensive to the sensitivities of the Muslim faithful and should have been interpreted in a manner that in no way corresponds to his intentions," Bertone said in a statement.

He noted that earlier during his German trip, Benedict warned "secularized Western culture" against holding contempt for any religion or believers.

Bertone said the pontiff sought in his university speech to condemn all religious motivation for violence, "from whatever side it may come." But the pope's words only seemed to fan rage.

IT IS A SIN TO TAKE SOMEONE OUT OF CONTEXT especially when they "CONDEMN ALL RELIGIOUS MOTIVATION FOR VIOLENCE..."

ARE MUSLIMS PROVING TO THE WORLD THEY ARE FANATICS by constantly over-reacting?

and that the UN is the center of all evil? I just heard this in church. And more: that he is, nonetheless, part of the Divine Plan for the End Times, and that if we are wise, we will get Rapture Ready. We need not worry about Muslims and others, they will not be present. Or so we were told. I have my doubts, but what do I know.
