If you have found the religion that's right for you, or if you're not religious at all, why can't you be satisfied with your situation and not try to convert others or persuade others that your way is the only right way? People are entitled to their own beliefs, or non-beliefs. Why the need to name-call and finger-point?

If in Genesis 5:25, it says that during Enosh's lifetime was the first time people worshipped God, then why does it say in Genesis 4 that Cain and Abel were giving offerings to God. Isn't that worship? I'm confused...please explain.

I would prefer it if ONLY persons who have studied the bible and are knowledgable answer.

Also note that I am not in the mood to deal with Bible bashers today, so anyone who does anything but answer my question will be reported.

A lot of them act like rock music is the root of all evil. Give me a break! Should we blame church music for creating child molesters? I mean, a lot of priests have been accused and charged with molesting.. it must be the organ music.

I thought Jesus loved everyone. No matter what music they liked.

Since the beggining that mankind can record, everybody always believed thier religion was the correct one. What makes the christians any different. And to the christians who answer, I mean no disrespect. But why do you conjecture your truth is better than any of the religions of old with the same beliefs. You know, worship who they consider to be the incarnate of GOD(or you can call him the son of GOD for arguments sake). And please don't give me this GOD is the father routine please. Because to this belief we are made in GOD's image, but what about the true fathers of the earth that had one GOD. Abraham(pbuh) for example. Who his GOD promised his sons shall be many as the stars in the heavens. And he was not a jew in truth. I would rather look to him as the father and monotheistic believers to the lord GOD of israel(pbuh) as the sons. With one GOD. And please don't take it as I am saying or implying jews are the truth. Because they were supposed to believe in jesus and muhammad(pbuh).

Should church be a big old celebration where everyone is singing, dancing, and playing contemporary christian music (maybe some types of evangelical churches) or should it be fire and brimstone where you have hard hard wooden pews and someone like the Puritan Jonathan Edwards preaching about eternal damnation and what an insanely torturous place hell is? You know- contemporary or puritan?

Do you think the Harry Potter books are evil?

If so, what do you think makes them evil? Is it just because they deal with witchcraft?

My two cents is that the books are, obveously, not evil. Children learn good lessons from them about loyalty and friendship (plus any book that gets kids to actually read these days is a good thing) and I can't see how anyone could see "evil" in these books if they actually bothered to read them.

Without defining things we only believe that happens after life. Is there a path we all follow that involves stimulus, response, idea, creation, knowledge, experience, dreams, fantasy, friendship, attraction, like minds, synergy, emotion, love, habits, hobbies, music, harmony, peace, comfort, truth, perception, reality, awareness, thought, curiosity, accepting, attempting, knowing, action, reaction, energy?

It's alot to think about I suppose, but are we all floating down the river on the same boat here?

they complain it's not a question. Why so afraid to be challenged. Also, they tell me I can't say what god would or should do yet they claim that my ideas are wrong. Is that not THEM telling ME what god would do?

science will one day answer all of life's questions? like, will we get to the end of knowledge and have discovered and figured out everything? if not, why is it so difficult to entertain the idea that there are things that are true that we cannot see and never will see? are people that cannot entertain this idea just like people throughout history that did not believe things that have now come to be proven? ie: the earth being round etc...

Is Christianity an eloborate hoax, with a book and everything, like the Flying Spaghetti Monster is a hoax, with its book:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0812976568/sr=8-1/qid=1156620759/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-8416622-4771102?ie=UTF8

Is Christianity just like the Flying Spaghetti Monster, an alternative atheist theory, trying to seperate us from our true God, the Invisible Pink Unicorn?

I am an atheist. Not going to say I'm proud of it. Nothing to do with pride. I submit to you that we have complained about the intolerant religious groups for years. Oh, yes there were attempts to deny certain freedoms. Personal freedoms. I got that. But, are we so much better then them now? How many laws restrict the practice of religion? How many laws passed violate the First Amendment? A little self reflection is in order I think. Do we want to become what we have fought against? Is not the whole point to allow people to do as they wish, think as they wish, and yes, pray as they wish. Who are we, the atheists to tell them that. Just as they have no right to force us to believe in God? And please don't bring up historical issues. I am talking about the reality today.

was there lightning and thunder? Why did the sun, moon, and stars apparently go around the Earth? Why did someone get sick and die? Why did anything happen? Well, obviously, God did it. If a person doesn’t know how something works or why something happened, they can say, “God did it.” This is known as the “god of the gaps,” or the “argument from ignorance,” and it is at the heart of the conflict between science and religion. Science looks for natural causes, while religion looks for supernatural causes. Science is steadily winning, because as we understand more and more about the universe, the gap where God might function grows smaller and smaller. Every time we learn more, God has less room to operate.
When we learned what caused the sun to apparently move across the sky, there was no need for the Greek god Helios and his chariot. When we understood what caused lightning, there was no need for the Greek god Zeus, the Roman god Jupiter, or the Norse god Thor.

Does it make you a good person?

I ask because I don't believe in any god. But for the sake of argument, lets say I die, and some God judges me and sees that I tried to always be a good person just because I believed that its what all people should do, would I be praised for it or punished for not believing? And which would be fair?

This immaterial god would have an immaterial mind, and the only minds that we have any examples of result from physical brains.

The only invisible, immaterial things that I know of are ideas, like mathematic, scientific and social concepts. Although ideas can be powerful in moving people to action, they are human creations and have no separate reality. If humankind were to disappear tomorrow, so would ideas — including the idea of God.
The English language even has a term for this — “reify” — which means “to regard something abstract as real or concrete.” The god idea is about as abstract as possible, with no real evidence for existence. However, people have been regarding some god or gods as real for thousands of years.
