science will one day answer all of life's questions? like, will we get to the end of knowledge and have discovered and figured out everything? if not, why is it so difficult to entertain the idea that there are things that are true that we cannot see and never will see? are people that cannot entertain this idea just like people throughout history that did not believe things that have now come to be proven? ie: the earth being round etc...

Interesting question, but 'science' is the quest to find about new things and prove them true or false. Science does not think one day we will have all the answers, it knows that the more answers we get, the more questions we will have. So when science does not accept there are things we will never understand, it means science will delve into these things and try to define them. The people who thought the earth was flat rather than round did no such thing - they were told what to think and obliged.

Of course scientists do not have answers to everything now, and quite possibly they never will - but they make interesting strides forward. All this while the church stands still, or reluctantly tries to adapt itself by coming up with hybrid ideas (part science, part religion) such as 'Intelligent Design". When you have faith you don't need to prove a thing and this can be a comfortable thought. Wallowing in eachother's settled thoughts or lack of thought, being told by an authoritive figure what you can and can not do, can make one feel warm, connected, relaxed. Striving forward on the other hand is like venturing out into the dark, the unknown, with no one that has gone before you and no one to hold your hand.

If you don't dare to go into that dark, that's alright. When however you scoff at the ones braver than you, you are worse than a coward.

Scientist are still laboring with questions posed in the Bible book
of Job written(between 1657 and 1473 B.C.E.) over 3,600 years ago namely Job 38:33: "Have you come to know the statutes of the heavens?"and Job 38:24, "Where, now, is the way by which the light distributes itself?" Although the stars could be huge distances from one another, their relative positions remain fixed from earth's perspective. Because their positions are so precise, the stars are "helpful guides in navigation, to astronauts in spacecraft orientation, and for star identification." (The Encyclopedia Americana) Yet, no one fully comprehends "the bonds" that hold the constellations together.

By way of contrast, some Greek philosophetrs felt that light emanated from the human eye. In more modern times, scientists have thought that light consists of tiny particles. Others have thought of it as moving in waves. Today, scientists believe that light behaves both as a wave amd as a particle. Still,
the nature of light and how it "distributes itself" is far from fully
understood

Case in point, as early as 1905 (over one hundred years ago) the presence of Pluto was suspected (by Percival Lowell, an American astronomer) because of the force of gravity of some unknown planet affecting the orbits of Nepturne and Uranus, but it
was not until 1930 that Pluto's presence was confirmed and it
was identified as a planet, now 86 years later it doesn't fit the
present description of a planet and has been defrocked.

Can Science be fickle; I'd much rather trust the creator of life to
answer life's questions.

people do think. but i guess you dont. you see people believe what they want to. the only way to change that is with facts or and over whelming sense of security in the idea. people convert to religion all the time because it gives them something to believe in and idea if you will. science is the same way only you have something you can see to trust in. just for science people to think about. you can only come to a conclusion using information given by someone else. so who originally go to decide that two was two and not brown. you see people do think but they try and chose to think about things easily explained. now if you want to think about this. your mind changes up what your eyes see. your eyes see down as up and up as down. so which one is right. what your eyes see or what your brain tells you. thinking comes in different levels. just because you don't believe a person is thinking doesn't mean that it is true

There is nobody who says science will answer everything, but at least it seeks real answers, not just giving up and saying 'God did it'. With that attitude we would still think lightning was Zeus' fury.

I think it is irrisponsible to explain away things we do not understand with "God did it." We need to constantly search for the truth.
