i can honestly say i have never been in the presence of pure evil they way Satan is discribed, i can explain all human behaviour through nature nurture and enviroment . I cant see evidence of real evil, only hatred ,jelousy and power hungry people, then theres the damaged ones damaged by bad parenting and by lack of nurture who we call monsters and evil. Satan is a metaphor for all the bad things that humans do and a way of avoiding responsability for our own actions.?

I've heard it said atheists do not believe in anything that cannot be proven.

Can you prove you have thoughts? Or emotions? Yes, we can see behaviour. But to attribute that behaviour to a thought or emotion cannot be proven.

And yet, we all experience them first-hand, despite the lack of scientifically-measurable evidence that they exist.

How do you reconcile this apparent paradox?

Several pointed out the absence of God in my beliefs. For me, the belief in God is optional, whatever helps you learn to accept the power of Love.

If you need a God, then God is the universe and all life within it. We are part of the eyes and ears and other sensory organs of that God. We, along with all life, contribute to God's awareness. We worship God when we Love. We reject God when we hate.

On the other hand, no belief in a divinity is required to believe in the power of Love. We experience that power when we love our parents, our spouse, our children, our friends. Love brings out the best in us and encourages us to find more within ourselves to give even better.

Is it Religion, Atheism, Agnosticism...something else?

we are a diverse community of people and one god or religion couldnt possible apply to all ,what africans consider to be god wont be the same as what arabs consider to be god or europeans. Therefore do you think when the creator of this universe made it he knew there would be many pathways to the same connection.? we all need a religion we can identify with culturally as well as spiritually. That why there are so many religions and gods in this world?

Seek Heaven, be afraid of hell, fairies, walking on clouds, miracles. Arent we mature enough to see through this all. P.S - For the people who tell me to stay away from religion if i dont believe in God - well if religion can look down upon atheists and say- come to Jesus, i think i have an equal right to show the right way to my fellow brethen!!!

Agnostic here, not wanting to change anyone's religion.

We all know the difference between red and blue, and between up and down, but not everyone says the same definition for God and for Love.

Why do you think that is?

because if they commit a crime, break some ones heart or do something bad, they can ask God for forgiveness and start again with a clean slate, whereas a non believer has to face himself, his own soul. Its so difficult for us to forgive ourself!

I went to mass a few times before I began thinking about it myself. Having statues of Saints and praying to them are they breaking one of Gods commandments? Praying to Jesus and not directly to god how is that putting " I am the lord thy god, thou shalt not have gods before me," into some kind of perspective? Also if Jesus was a Jewish man who celebrated Passover and the other Jewish Holidays why did Jesus' followers stop celebrating those holidays if they want to be so much like Jesus? I'm confused..

To each person's understanding according to their need.

My beliefs must be consistent with a scientific reality and yet accept the unknown: spirit, ethics, thought, other intangibles.

Science can only go so far, at the moment. In time, processes may be developed to allow us to scientifically explore concepts which, now, are considered religious.

Till then, personal experience and intuition guide our personal exploration of the mysterious intangibles.

Faith in books, stories, legends and myths is just one of the ways of getting there. Introversion (searching within ourselves for truth) and Immersion (devoting ourselves to living Life to the fullest) are two others.

Whatever brings us to an acceptance of Love as our primary strength is good. Love for ourselves, Love for others, Love for our world and all Life.

Any faith that rejects the power of Love is a flawed system.
