For a better place from where I can pray God peacefully

They must use the KJV and only the KJV. If there is music, then something from the old hymns, Amazing Grace, The Old Rugged Cross, etc. It's a church, not a disco.

Are there any "stars" at the church? A true Pastor will be there to tend his flock and glorify the Lord. Church should not glorify any man.

Is the doctrine based on anything other than the KJV Bible? Doctrine should be based on the Word of God, not the words of men.

Do they practice adult believer immersion baptism?

What are the Pastor and his family like? Do they live a Godly life? Obviously, I'm not going to go home with them and see what goes on behind closed doors, but if their home is in an upscale neighborhood and their BMW is parked in the drive......

How is the church governed? (Should be by the members, themselves)

What are the requirements for membership? (Should be simply accepting Christ as your Savior, announcing so publicly and being baptized.)

Is everyone there trying to make me feel good? Truth is, it's not about my feeling good. I am a sinner. Only Jesus can save me. I should not be happy or feel good about the fact that I am incapable of pleasing my Creator. I should be happy that Jesus loved me enough to intercede. But I am not "a good person" and it's not "all okay".

Personally, I prefer a smaller church as it seems more personal, but that's not for any scriptural reason, it's just a personal preference.

I could probably come up with an even longer list if I thought about it longer, but that seems to be about it for now.

1. Are they follownig Jesus the majority of the time, or are they playing church most of the time? If they're donig this correctly then everyone (every race, every income leve, and every sexual preference) is welcome, there is no stead fast dress code, and there are often sermons and opportunities on getting more involved and active.
2. Is the community there expansive or in clicks that don't really interact? You want the community.
3. Do they encourage you to learn more on your own? Do they offer classes?
4. Are they serving their community or people that don't come to their church? Some churches only value the people in their church.

These are just a few things. I tend to look out for snakes and other odd occurences too.

Good question-my wife and I are in the process of looking for a church, we are going to visit a new one this afternoon. What we look for is a Bible based church, one that we feel comfortable with and that we can grow in the knowledge of Jesus and eventually be able to spread the word of our Lord, Jesus Christ so more people can hear that word and be saved.

The overall friendliness of the members. I only read out of KJV 1611. If they are using the NIV I can assume that they are liberal in other ways. I look to see if women are wearing pant-suits or jeans rather than dresses. Education of the pastor, while important, it really only matters if he is called by God to preach and not somebody tickling ears for a career. I look at the way the service is held ( not confusion ). I may watch the pastor leave to see whether he drives a Cadillac or a Chevrolet. The list goes on and on, but mostly I look for a spirit-filled church.

Do they honor and worship Jesus and the Trinity, by their proper names and titles? This is very important because fooling around with the essence of who God is, is not up to us and a sure sign of heretical teaching.

Next I look at how the people express their love for Jesus, in words, music and how they express a oneness or unity with one another.. If they are running down people or groups from the pulpit I take that as a very bad sign that something is out of wack also, because that is not how Jesus would behave. He hates the sin but wishes that all men might be saved.

It's not what I look for but what I listen to. When I go to church I am looking within myself to see where I am at with God and to ask for his guidance, love, and care everyday in my life so that all the things that seem impossible turns into possibilities! Thank you Lord...May you be blessed everyday throughout your life~

Friendly people. But not too friendly, I don't want people trying to follow me home for a bible study or anything. A good sermon, one in which I can learn from and basically the presence of God and people there to worship Him.
