My thoughts ...

Faith in God seems to be nothing more than humans attempting to run away from reality, an excuse to avoid thinking and evaluating evidence. Religious faith is just an emotional escape and really just a substitute for opening your eyes to reason. It seems to be a function of madness.

Religion has clearly shown over time to be the major catalyst for wars, violence, abuse, greed and practically everything evil going on in our planet since humanity began.

For me some of the violence, murder and hatred in the Bible is horrific, especially if brain-washed into the minds of little children. Stuff like ...
Mathew 5:29-30 God encouraged self-mutilation.
Isaiah 13:15-18 God allowed women raped and little children slaughtered.
Genesis 6:11-17 and 7:11-24 God is the greatest mass murder in history.

I think the world would be like Heaven if religion ceased to exist, but all the believers and preachers have turned this planet into Hell.

Your thoughts please.

What I am trying to say is that if the Ten Commandments are posted and some groups don't agree with them and want them taken down. Does that violate the freedom of speech? Or is that just freedom of speech right back to the group that want the Ten Commandments kept there. Who really wins? I thought freedom of speech is meant for groups to express their beliefs and people can accept it or not. If you don't then you move on right? I don't understand cuz you can't make everyone happy ya know?

Trust me people, I'm not a Christian and I'm not pro-life. Think people think. Think outside the box.

If you have a position about something political, do you spend all your time and energy attacking the religion of the opponent, or actually attack the position?

I'm just asking, its just a question. Just yahoo answers just trying to create a database of questions and answers.

Where they were in "Hell" and there were millions and millions of people and they were all asking why they were there. And there was a man the stage with the loud speaker saying that told everyone the reaons why they were in "hell" was because they choise the wrong religion. And the correct one was methidist.
I thought i was the funniest things Ive seen due to we are all fighting to see who is right , but in the end we will never know until it happens so its it a sure fact that we must love and respect everyone regardless of what they believe !

Example: Christianity has the Bible, Judaism has the Torah, Islam has the Quran, etc. These are the top three religions with the largest following, however there is no sacred text associated with atheism, or "the flying spaghetti monster."

SERIOUS answers please...I thought a lot about this question.

What if all the other whiney bee otch agnostics and atheists shut up for 10 god darned seconds and reasoned who the heck cares if I walk into a Courthouse that has a 10 Commandments, the judge will judge me based on the merits of the case and apply US Law, and if (s)he did not thats what the appeal is for.

Who really cares, we have God on our money and God in our pledge.

We got men dying in Iraq, people who don't have health insurance and have to cut their pills in half, schools that don't have text books with all the pages,

this to me is as stupid a debate as when the Fundamentalist Christians take up the Senate floor to debate gay marriage and flag burning,

Can we all just shut up with all these wedge issues,

This country isn't a Theocracy its a Democracy, and I see all sorts of people tearing it down, Fundamentalist Christian, and Atheist, and Agnostic, and Liberal Christian, why are you argueing over 10 Commandments when my military brothers are dieing in Iraq?

Why do we assume that God is going to JUDGE someone? I thought that we are all his creations and that he already knows everything. If he knows what I am going to do and he created me, then why would he judge me? Does it not make more sense that God would want us to go through things to gather experiences?

And I would like to ask the question, If God is all good, then would not he have one negative bone in his body? If he does not, then he would not hurt us and cause us to be destroyed. He would not even be thinking in that aspect if he knew only good, right?

One of the major problems I have had with Christianity is it's view of women.

God is portrayed as male, Jesus is a man and he had twelve male apostles. A woman (Eve) is blamed for the fall. The New Testament has quite a few verses saying that "man is the head of woman" and that women should not speak in church, etc. The Bible relegates women to an inferior position to men.

To me, this is nothing but an attempt to justify a patriarchal system. Men are not superior to women, and I see no justification for men "ruling over" women, or being the head of the household.

What is your response to this?
