Well said, it's all nonsense. I laugh inside when I hear people talking about their faith. I compare it to 5 year olds who talk about santa claus like he actually exists. It's total lack of common sense is what I hate about them all

You really have a lot of hate and vindictiveness,.don't you? I mean, I thought you atheists were suppose to be the tolerant ones? You base you "questions" on your own prejudices, not based on facts. You ridicule people you don't even know for having beliefs you don't understand. How many Christians do you actually know? I would guess, none. It is easy to maintain prejudices when you don't rub shoulders with people of other beliefs. "Run away from reality"?? I am married, with a 16 year old, opinionated, sometimes rebellious son, I face reality every hour of everyday. You insinuate that Christians are non-thinking, pardon me, but I could provide a long list of brilliant men and women who are far more intelligent than either you or me who are Christians. Sin causes war, greed, violence, etc. not Christianity. I won't even bother dissecting your rant against certain Biblical passages that you do not understand. You don't even bother to explore the historical or cultural context of the passages nor understand such alliterations such as metaphors, similes, etc.. Want a world where Christianity is suppressed or outlawed? Try North Korea, Cuba, or Saudi Arabia. Those are definitely heavenly places. Oh, I also noticed in your picking and choosing Bible verses, you never pull the ones about Gods love, forgiveness or compassion, I guess they wouldn't support your presuppositional prejudices. No, we are not the ones who are unthinking.

I dislike the fact that I have to wait so long for God to come and rapture me. I dislike the fact that no religion seems to be very tolerant of any other. I dislike the fact the bible has been translated into so many different styles of writing that anyone can call themselves a Christian and hand down what they consider to be law according to what they read. I dislike it when any religion is believed strictly on the basis of I told you so. I think people should read it on their own and draw their own conclusions. Why else would HE have given us a brain. I dislike that some people use their religion as a shield to hide their perversions behind. I hate it that people think we still live under the old testament laws and can only look at the extremes God had to go to in order to have good people living here. I dislike that some religions will profess to believe the bible or that their religion is the "same" as mine "except"......If you have to have an exception then it is not the same thing. I hate it that everyone cannot just live peacefully believing what ever they wish to believe and not have to persecuted for it. Whether that person is Atheist, Wiccan, Christian, Jew, Muslim, etc. everyone should tend their own little plot of land and not worry about what I am growing on mine.

What bothers me most about it is what u said. Why does god allow innocent people and horrible crimes to be commited upon children. Why does he allow 9-11 to happen. Our interactions and connections with friends, family, children are so complex and intense how could we just die and thats it?
What if youre widowed and married again? Do u spend heaven with 2 husbands, what about their past relationships, children with other women? where does it fall in place? Are all my childhood pets there too, my sisters and their husbands, their husbands mom and dads, grandmas? Are we all in one big house, one big room, Gotta be a pretty large room
Do we pick up where we left off when we died? old, young, mutulated, burned, decapitated, cancerous? I have no answers and i don't think anyone does, religion is a way to keep going maybe? I really don't know coul;d go on and on

Religion has the power to inspire courage, generosity, and selflessness. Unfortunately, it can also inspire distrust, hostility, selfishness, and outright violence. Blind faith is the enemy, in my view. There is much immorality in the books people revere. Would that we could read them with an open mind and discern for ourselves what is good and what is bad based on reason instead of swallowing them whole and suspending our sense of common decency.

I only hate that people seem to feel that they have "poetic license" to interpret Scripture any way they choose to. I find more and more people taking the Bible out of context, yet because we have free will, I can't seem to get my point of view across in a manner that won't seem offensive! For instance, you speak of God being a "mass murderer". Did you ever stop to think it was because He realized He had to eradicate IMPENTINENCE from the Earth so that evil would have less of a chance to overtake His Creation? Man kept screwing that up, but that's another story.

As I can see you have not really read the bible to gain understanding just to find something wrong. It contains the answer to all our problems today. To make it clear my rights end where your nose begins. True love is not selfish only thinking about me but the rights of others. Many of the religions today say one thing and do another do not condemn God for what man has done to himself.

It's difficult to add to what you've already said. You can add the rape of virgins when the parents were trying to convert homosexuals & sent out their virgin daughters to have sex with them. (sorry I don't know where to find the passages) The hypocrasy would be the only other thing. They say one thing and do another. As I said in another question today, any religious extremists scare me no matter what their religion.

There is nothing I hate about God or the Bible , Most Religions I have little use for but. what I hate is how I pity those who will not believe in anything and fall for every thing.

Brenda your world is very small ,and what have you contributed to this world , You have no understanding of the WORD OF GOD and u never will untill you die to your world and step into the way God has intended it to be , A man/woman must be Born again to understand the things of God ,it may seem foolish to u but to those who are saved its the most awsome rewarding thing there is in this life , I agree with what you say about religion but Im talking about having a personel relation ship with Jesus Christ , He walks with me and talks we me and tells me I am his own !
