first off the constitution put this counrty together, not the ten commandments, our "religious fore-fathers did not want religion and state to mix and you dont want pagan or wicca or jewish symbols anywhere, and i hate to tell you christians out their but your helping this country go to hell,i dont need 10 rules to telll me right from wrong, maybe you shoould stop spending so much time reading the bible and telling others how to live and go outside and see how normal people can survive without the bible.you are very judgemental for your beliefs, something jesus himself was not.

Political power my friend. Christians rule this country politically. Just try to get elected by telling them that religion should be kept seperate. They will go "Taliban" on you so fast your head will spin.
It is amazing to me how they fear Islam ruling Iraq or Iran but think it is just fine for Christians to dictate policy here. Political power controlled by superstition.
Lord Jesus! Protect me from your followers!!
Personally I like the Code of Hammarabi (oldest known recorded constitution for government). Which says: "The first rule of government is to protect the weak from the strong". Gotta love ole Hammi.

I don't think it's fair to say "pleast not crap about how this country was born with religion".
The facts are the facts. It's illegal to kill, and steal. Those are morals. Laws enforce morals that society has decided are wrong.
It's just a fact that the earliest people that came to America and founded are Country for the most part believed in God. And most were Christians. Very few were atheists, that's a new concept. When those old buildings were built they believed that God was behind our government.
The first amendment has been mis-interpreted to mean that the government should have nothing to do with any religion.
That's very far from true. The first amendment protects individual rights to have our own religion, and freedom of speech. It should not be considered as a restriction on government, except the government can't decide what religion you will be affiliated with, or what you can say about the government. But it has been turned around to mean that the government itself has no right to associate with any religion. As far as other religions, I think that if someone is a Buddhist and designs a government building, he or she has a first amendment right to design the building based on thier beliefs. We don't have to worship Buddha, or believe in Buddha. We have a cross on Mt. Soledad in San Diego. That cross was put up there as a memorial. That memorial is protected by our first amendment, but this is mis-interpreted to mean that this violates some "seperation of church and state".
Seperation of church and state only means that the government can't be affiliated with any church, and can't force people to affiliate with any state church. The problem with these mis-interpretations is that it distorts and erodes the meaning of the first amendment, and it takes away rights by censorship. Censorship in the way of removing any religous expressions from our government, schools, and public, and eventually the government will control Churches under this distorted view.
There are government sponsored activities that actually censor Christian symbols, but allow other religions. If any particular religion is being censored in this Country it's Christianity.

What's wrong with them
YOu WANNA SCREW SOME GIRL BEHIND YUR WIFES BACK
You WANT YOU WIFE TO SCCREW SOME GUY BEHIND YUR BACK
You want thiefs to take your stuff!
You want someone to kill you for no good reason, just because you were in the wrong place at the wrong time
OK
I can see the God is a Jealous god part.
But what is wrong with the REST of the 8 commandments!
What!
WHAT!
You want Anarchy!
Where do you Live so I can come and covet your stuff.; Your wife. Your daughter. Your lawn mower. Your power saw. Your stereo
I'd love to covet your daughter. not stop me without a law or moral code!
I'd love to!
Satan tells me to take your daughter and wife
Now stop me!
Call an Atheist and stop me!
Get the point.
I can agree on the 2 lines, but the other 8?
Come on
You really DON'T BELIEVE IN LAW AND ORDER!!!

I had this debate with someone recently. I asked him, "how do you think those symbols of Christianity got there in the first place"...and he answered me, very sensibly, and very honestly..."Christians put them there."
And that, my friend, is the final answer.
If you don't want to see the symbols of our faith, by all means, don't look at them.
Don't think there aren't symbols of other faiths about. Do you know what is standing on a hill slap in the middle of Birmingham, Alabama? NO??
For those who knew already, did you also know that not ONE SINGLE CHRISTIAN has complained? LOL, now I know everyone is gonna have to go and find out...but think about that for a minute...NOT ONE SINGLE CHRISTIAN...sorta makes one wonder, doesn't it??
So, who is actually "intolerant"??

Good point. If we're going to have the ten commandments, why not put symbols of other religions in government buildings as well?

Those Ten Commandments tell us not to harm each other. Our laws are formed from those principles to bring order to our society. Whether you want to look at with God standing by that or not, we still have the law that gives us our right to punish a spouse for abuse, child molestor from our chldren, rapists being sent to jail, dui's enforced. i thought we practiced freedom of speech?

Goes back to the formation of gov't, believe it or not, and not so much for its religious tones, rather, the 10 virtues of life/living. I look at them as common sense, right vs. wrong. Immigrants? Yes, they formed this country. Today's serious immigrants immigrate legally. And you, my friend, may wish to learn to spell and also leave your hostile attitude outside, away from the keyboard.
