Does anyone else find this a ridiculous notion? Nothing can be absolutely good or absolutely evil. Without one, the other cannot exist. Therefore, anything pure good or pure evil must be pure fantasy. Who agrees with me here?

Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers.
Matthew 7: 21-23

Allow me to explain. I am not advocating outlawing marriage and it would never happen anyway. I just want to open this for discussion and see what others think.

The question is if the practice of the government acknowledging marriage is discrimination. All men are created equal, but married men are treated differently than single men under the laws of our nation such as tax laws and other laws.

The government randomly decided that marriage would be two people, one man one woman. And they are not allowing more than two people or same sex people to have the same rights. This is discrimination and is contrary to our constitution.

In Utah, polygamists are arrested because they marry more than one person. They are all free-thinking individuals of expressing their freedoms and what right does the government have to forbid this?

I understand that this would make tax laws hopelessly complicated to allow polygamy. Also, it would be hard to change society's views.

But does anyone agree?

Jesus intended ROME to be at the heart of the Church till the end of time- which it is, since the Vatican, in Rome, is the centre of Christianity.
Jesus=Rome=Vatican=Europeanization=Westernization=Modernization=Globalization=Jesus=The True God and Saviour of mankind.
Its a perfect fact and truth which every human being on earth is living and is part of.

I was just curious.
I'm 15, so I'm still premature religiously,
but i was just wondering why some Buddhist people celebrate Christmas with gifts and the sort.
I always thought Christmas was of Christian celebration, not to get presents. But then (it's not only pertaining to Buddhism) other people in different religions celebrate it.

I'm really sorry if it seems like a dumb question,
but i just wanted to know what everyone else thought on the subject.

Thanks!

Is there other GODS? If there was only one God then the commandments should have said I am GOD and no other. And in the bible it saids God of abraham, God of issac, God of moses If there was only one God why would it be such a big deal trying to say God is the only God when there is no supposedly other Gods. Its like saying I am man of my wife and no other. But there are many men out there.

"The deaf adder stoppeth her ears, and will not hearken to the voice of the charmer, charm he never so wisely” (Psalm lviii. 4, 5)

Snakes have no external ear to stop, and ZERO tympanic activity. It seems unlikely that snakes can hear airborne sounds at all, though doubtless they are sensitive to ground vibrations transmitted through the bones of the jaw.

So the Psalm has clearly been mis-reported-- mistranslated or badly transcribed.

I wonder how the real, original, uncensored Bible would have it rendered? We may possibly never know. Until one is discovered in crypt or cave, we shall have to make due with the current Bible, flawed though it clearly is.

My fiance is 37 & lives with his parents. He travels alot at his job so he has to live with them. I am 34 years old. We are both catholics.I go to his house alot. I've hugged him b 4 or even snuggled up with him. Last year I did not want to hold hands or kiss him because my culture did not allow that before marriage. I am East Indian & my fiance is white. But I am deeply in love with him & I want to show some kind of affection towards him. So we do kiss, hug & have even fooled around b 4. But did not have sex. I went to confession with him & decided not to fool around anymore. But I do like to hug, hold hands & kiss him. His parents do not like the idea of us kissing & hugging. They said we should live a chaste life before marriage. I went on a trip with him out of state to visit his brothers. They didn't like it eather. Their other children all lived together b 4 marriage & they even helped one of them move in together b 4 marriage. I fear I will loose him 4 ever. Now I am very sad.

Having determined that despite what Hitler did, he could get into heaven if he sincerely repented, and despite what Gandhi did, he could not get into heaven as long as he remained a non-Christian, here's the question:

Where is the incentive to do good if a quick, fervent, sincere prayer at the end gets you off the hook as far as God is concerned?

In the Old Testament times, He'd wait a while before smiting you fiercely. Now it's like, 'wait until Judgement Day' or whenever He's going to get around to it. It's like He doesn't care anymore.

I really wonder, it seems to me that this idea is met with a certain degree of glee. I have had it tossed to me in the light of, "I will be watching you be judged to hell with a smile on my face." Isn't that rather unChristian? Really people, you need to do a better job of hiding your malice.

I know what it says in the bible, but my personal opinion is that many parts of the bible were written by sexist men who had a ridiculous fear of women. I'm not saying the whole bible is a lie, but plenty of it is definitely open to interpretation, in my opinion.
So why is it people automatically assume God has to be a he?

I believe in predestination because of the fact that we can remember the past. If i can remember the things that happened in the past then most likely thier is someone in the future remembering this past. If that is the truth then the future must be set ie i cant change what i dont know is going to happen. If this is the truth and the future is truely set which i believe it is then the world is begining and ending and living all at the same moment. That would also explain ghost. if we are all sharing the same space then we should be able to see glimpes of one another. That is also how God knows who is going to heaven and whos not. This does not stop free will as some would say because we all still have choices to make. Ok, your turn, tell me how i am wrong.

The Sabbath is the 7th day of the week, the day of rest. Why is it celebrated on Sundays, then? I was in church once, and my Sunday school teacher admitted that the Sabbath day was Saturday, but then he went on to say "But wouldn't it be better if we celebrated it on the first day, and not the last?" And I remember thinking, 'Who gave you the right to change that?'
Thoughts, anyone?
