If a Muslim murders a woman in an Islamic country, and claims that the reason for the murder was to defend family honor, in Jordan, as in most Islamic countries, the murderer is not charged with murder or murder that carries the same penalties as normal murder.
In Jordan, people who murder woman and claim that it was for "honor" wont serve more than several months, and need not serve anytime.
The woman need not have had sex, her murderer need only have felt that she was doing something "dishonorable".
Read the artile from Al-Jazerra below, it talks about the "Islamists" not wanting to change their "religious" tradition.
"Murder cases carry stiff penalties in Jordan, but honour killers usually receive reduced sentences since their crimes are considered to be committed in “fits of rage” or as a “crime of passion”, sparked by “unlawful action” on the part of the victim." http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/8B1CC7F4-AA09-4D35-99BD-3C556A03877A.htm
