What gods/goddesses and/or pantheons are you into, if any? How do you know you have a connection to one diety and not another?

I worship the deities of Celtic lands, focusing on the Irish pantheon. I knew this was what I wanted from the time that I visited Ireland and as soon as we landed it was as though a bunch of curious spirits were looking at me and saying "Oh, THERE you are! we've been looking for you! It's hard to explain but when you make a connection, you know. Either it's a voice that you hear, or a sensation that you feel, and there is a distinct sense of being watched. And no, I'm not mentally unstable! :)

I think that there are various ways to get the attention of a god. You can live in their lands, be descended from their people, or study them. I think most gods of place kind of keep an eye on things in the domains that they have some control over, so you can run into them accidentally. As for studying them- it's kind of like wondering about or talking about someone you've seen at work or school. Eventually, they'll get wind of it and look you up.

As for why a god might reject someone: that depends on the god. I think sometimes your personalities don't match, or you don't want for your life the kind of things that the god might want for his or her followers. If you try and try and try to get the attention of a god and nothing happens, not good and not bad, it might just be time to seek out someone else.

Well, I wouldn't exactly describe myself as being "into" certain gods. Sounds a bit too much like discussing a hobby or casual interest instead of religious devotion.

I worship West Semitic/Canaanite deities. Principally I honor the divine royal family, which includes Ilu/El, Athirat/Asherah, Anat, Ba'al Hadad and others. I believe that I have a relationship with certain gods because of personal religious experiences. Most of the gods I've never had contact with, but I still worship them. The connection isn't necessarily vital if your goal is simply to show reverence for divinity.

I worship deities that were once worshiped in Celtic-speaking areas during the Iron Age. Taranis (Gaulish), Epona (Gaulish), and Lugh (Lugus-Gaulish) are a few of my main deities and I am including a link for others. I also honor a few deities that I simply use titles for because I still am unsure of what names they would prefer. Celtic deities weren't necessarily seen as a pantheon because the Celtic peoples weren't a united group and each area had their own deities. For a good overview of Gaulish (Continental Celtic) deities:

I have a connection with my deities because I felt drawn to reach out to them and I have nurtured relationships with them. It is a gut feeling. An "AHA!!!" moment. After that, it is the same attention that you would give to any relationship. Relationships are two-way and require constant care and attention. To me, the feeling of not connecting with a deity is similar when I don't connect with other people. We just don't "click". They may become acquaintances, but not close friends. My connections--or not--with deities are the same.

I honor god/dess(es) from many pantheons. My patronness is Hestia (from the Greek pantheon), though I worked with Brighid (Irish) for many years.

How do you know that you have a connection to one deity? Are you trying to connect with a specific deity? Try meditation. Guided meditation is a great way to 'meet' the God/dess. There are many open ended meditations you can do to 'meet' her.

You can also analyze your dreams or meditations. Many people I know have had consistant symbols sent to them. By analyzing the symbols, they began working with a specific goddess.

If you have a goddess in mind that you are trying to connect with, you will want to learn all you can about her. Make offerings to her, or sacrifices in her honor. Learn what she'd like best. Pray to her. Create an altar or shrine to her.

If you want to talk about it, you can IM me @ ivyfyre on Y!messenger. :)

I like this question and I will try to understand it. I never really thought about it before but I'm not wiccan/pagan....I would think I would be into the plant goddess of shamanistic beliefs, that's what i feel connected to.

I am chosen of Eos and honor Her family, Helios, Selene, Hyperion and Thia. I also worship Gaia, Aphrodite, Athene, Zeus, Hera, Hermes and Hestia first and last. These are members of the Greek pantheon. I knew I had a connection with Eos because she wouldn't leave me alone. She has chosen me. She came to me in my dreams. She speaks to me on my Journeys. She was always there, and one day I recognized her.

I don't do pantheons but instead connect to some spirits - about the closest would be one that would resemble Artemis, goddess of the hunt.

I relate well to the Egyptian Deities. I find their mythology meaningful and have always been attracted to the ancient Egyptian artwork.

From a mystical stand point I have connected well with them too. For example early this summer I started working with Heru (Horus) the falcon headed Deity. About two weeks into my study and meditation I was out flying one of my kites and looked over at a nearby fence. Sitting on top of the fence was a red tailed hawk, just watching me. I landed the kite and sat down to watch him since he was only about 25 yards away. After about 10 minutes I stood up and started to walk towards him. He just sat there looking at me. I walked right up to him (within 5 feet) and he just looked at me. I talked to him for about another 10 minutes and then I thanked him for coming. With that he flew off.

It was a religious experience and very very cool.

Well I'm a Christian witch so I feel a true connection between both religious paths. I can't live without the other, I've tried. I feel a connection to a universal/Christian based, nongender bias god, and Jesus Christ. As well as a connection to earth elements, spirits, and angels.

Me, I personally I worship Gaea and the Creator that's about it, and it is more or less something I feel and I cannot really explain it.
