Can the atheist prove it?

2006-08-16 01:44:54 · 42 answers · asked by Anonymous

If you say "yes because I could choose to not listen to God" have you ever not listened to God when he offered his advice to you? If you haven't ever NOT listened to God, then are you really even capable of doing what you want and not doing what God is telling you to do?

Granted this is one line of thinking that not everyone may have. If you said No to the initial question then you're in the clear.

Does perfection ever admit to being wrong? Can you do a good against God? How sane is our God, for his actions are that of men of power? Obey me or forever be my enemy, unless you beg for forgiveness then I might forgive you, or not.

I am your God, you must do as I say. I am always right, you are always wrong._Perfection-Hitler-God

in Islam we only worship god ,we dont worship things or people that are created by him, that we can see, hear, smell, imagine ....(even if they are so great people like his messengers ....)
this is the way of worship in islam.
this unity(oneness) of god is so beautiful in islam, because truth is beautiful,
and in fact when you are in a dangerous situations when you really need help, you talk to god naturally and ask him to help you,
in those moments maybe you dont even think about god`s name
but you know you talked to ONE same god. a god who is so near to us(it is mentioned in the holy quran that god is closer to us than our neck`s vein), yes he is closer to us than ourselves,

and we believe he is the best in everything (he is perfect) and logically it is impossible to have more than one best in everything.
why some people associate creatures with the creator????
he is the most powerful, all knowing, most kind ....

A child of 8years was caught for stealing a loaf of bread in the market in Iran and was punished at the spot in the name of Islam. The hand broken by the vehicle and his hand will be of no use for eternity.God will never accept that. They use religion without understanding.Don't yo see that there is a lot of evil in islamism?

To those creationists who claim this, what do you think of "Project Steve"

It really makes a mockery of all those creationists who claim that scientists are turning away en masse from evolution :

Project Steve is a parody by the National Center for Science Education (NCSE). More specifically, it is a parody of creationist attempts to collect a list of scientists who "doubt evolution". The NCSE's list of scientists who "support evolution" only contains scientists named Stephen or variations thereof (Stephanie, Stefan, Esteban, etc.), thus representing about 1% of the total population. Despite this restriction, it is longer and contains more eminent scientists than any creationist list. The project was named in honor of the paleontologist Stephen Jay Gould.

Eminent scientists who are included in the "pro evolution list" include Stephen Hawking as well as both Nobel Prize winning Steves in science, Steven Chu and Steven Weinberg. The Steve-o-meter reads 744 Steves as of 8-6-06

I saw this the other day and was thinking about how the entire population was in fear of their government and thinking this was much the same way that people call themselves one faith or another because of fear of reprisal from dying. That if we could somehow get those people who take a belief simply because they are "insuring their soul" could be woken up and convince to live their lives the way Evie did in the movie. What do you think?

To me, this is relevant down to the family level. If you hear someone bad mothing someone else, it's our job to stick up for them. Who's day could you brighten today? Who could you stick up for and value?

I often see Christians in here challenging atheists to prove the non existance of god. They see this as a way of proving god does exist. Their logic seems to be this : If you can't prove for sure that god does not exist, well then he must exist !

So, on to my question.

Christians, can you prove non existance of invisible fairies who fly around in the clouds all day ?

I don't want bible verses, or religious stuff, I just want an answer to the above question about the existance of invisible fairies.

Seriously," Faith requires committment and action. Faith without works is dead." One can only be a true Christian if they are striving to live their lives for Christ. Not if they just know who he is and accept that as fact. "Do you know He is the Christ? So to the demons in hell do and tremble. But that avails them not."

After years of a spotless driving record we totaled our car. Then less than 3 months later we totaled the replacement car. Every time we have to come up with a down payment we drain our savings. I'm a religious person but i can't figure out why we have to keep going through this. They say God wants what's best for us but lately it's been hard to swallow that.

I keep seeing believers saying "Hah, where did that atom come from." or " oh yeah, well how did this get created then!?" Yet the only take it back to the point of God. They never ask the same question about "Well, then where did God come from!?" They just answer "Oh he was always here." Anyone else sick of seeing this flawed logic?

I wonder who will be first to say "Oh but that's the old testament, that doesn't count anymore....... (except of course when it suits us).

I was looking at a tree with my friend the other day. I said to him "I like the way the tree looks as its leaves are moving."

He replied "I like it too, but I think that it is the wind that is moving."

This really confused me but I couldn't work out why.

So what is the truth? What is moving?

A simple yes or no will do backed up with a few sentences.

So far not one creationist has even attempted to answer the actual question asked. I usually just get a pro creationism rant.

I find intriguing that many christian women tell me that women are oppressed in other faiths and Christianity liberated them however someone told me that women in this faith must wear a scarf (not because they are pious but because they belong to their father, brother, husband, son, etc) or have their hair shaved off what's the ... ? I was obviously confused and wondered whether this answer went down to the fact that women are blamed for the fall of man etc??

Many religions (and sub-sects of main religions) say that you have to believe in 'their' version of religion, or suffer (to some degree or other) in the after life.
So, is it better to go with a religion which offers a better afterlife (Mormonism says that you can become a god of your own universe in the afterlife, if you follow all their precepts), or is it better to be an atheist and say to every religion, "a pox on all your houses"

Once again, I'm looking for Christians to answer, though I know that some atheists will answer as well. I'm not going to discourage it, but I will say that I think I already know some of the answers that atheists use.
Christians who answer:
I would appreciate at least three things that makes the Bible unique. More ways that the Bible is unique will give you more of a chance for BA.

Thank you to everyone in advance for your answers!
