People in another post insist that jesus existed. We,, prove it.

I would like some evidence presented to prove this.

And do not mention the bible - that is not proof - a book written50-100 years after he supposedly died does not constitute proof. Especially, as that s the only book that mentions him.

How did you discover your beliefs or non-belief? Where you raised as an Agnostic or Atheist or were you raised Christian (or any other religion) and then did research and found that you did not believe what you had always been taught?

I am asking this out of pure curiousity. Personally, I was raised Catholic, was put in Catholic schools, etc. Around my high school years I found that I just didn't believe what I had always been taught to believe. So lately I have been doing a lot of research to find what I DO believe.

What's your story?

I've noticed people who are Italian but are asked if they are Jewish (because they "look" Jewish, whatever that means) get really offended by this. Why?

Anyone of Italian or Italian American heritage, do you get asked if you are Jewish (for example if someone doesn't know your name, or if your name isn't obviously Italian)?

Do you get annoyed or angry? If so, why?

I bring this up because my best friend's name is Marcella (pretty obviously Italian) and she always wears a cross. A saleslady (she had give her a credit card) asked her if she was Jewish last week while we were shopping & she freaked out! She kept saying don't they see my cross/ my name, and so on.

Can anyone enlighten me as to why she would be so annoyed and also anyone Italian has this ever happened to you & how did you react.

Thanks and have a great day!

Have you ever heard anyone say "i did not research, just fell into it and i refuse to honestly consider any other views"?

Everyone "claims" to have done real research and come their decision rationally after much thought. If your 30 or above, regardless your education, you know this research claim lie 99% of the time.

So why does everyone lie about having done research? I mean, sometimes people are straight about it, kinda...they might say "well i need to do more". But, they never really did any in the first place or they rationalize, that their theological download, from their religious authorities, did some unbiased "pros and cons" and this was sufficient research.

Most people know that they really should make informed decisions about religion but they havent the courage because for now, it works as a means for coping with death. Its wishful thinking and deep inside they are afraid, that research will confirm their fears that their religion is false.

This morning when I fired a young lassie, as she had openly declared her love for Jesus on the intranet ("he is gods gift to human kind" she said), a thought came to me. Could it be that she meant he is gods git, and it was a mere spelling error? Though religion is a sin in our company, mocking it is celebrated.

And further to that, what if the Bible is full of such translation and spelling errors? Could 'holy ghost' be 'wholly goat', 'god' be 'dog' and 'mozes' be 'my sis', and so on? In other words, should I not have let her go?

some people say that "truth is only only relative" or "truth is only how we perceive reality", if that is the case, then their statement contradicts itself since it is an absolute statement> therefore, I believe that an absolute truth does exist that applies to everybody and his name is Jesus Christ>

just ignore the pro and against arguments about this and question urself: if Jesus never existed, isn't that a miracle far greater than his miracles? just think, they've changed the eras because of some imaginary fella'. ppl left themselves killed by lions and gave their life 4 an imaginary person. who of us would do that?

It's from a Pedro the Lion song, if your familiar with his music, you'd know he uses a lot of satire to make his points. Just curious what you thought of that one; particularly in the context of our world of political correctness and relative morality.

If you've got another context, feel free to bring it up too. Thanks.

Since muslims are being racially and religiously profiled in airports, does this search include Black or White Muslims in America? Lets say that a family of 4 either black or white, walks through security with their American Muslim outfits. Do they get stopped or should they be allowed to board without being hastled.

I think Airlines wouldnt do this racial profiling, especially America, if the bombers were all Catholic, Born Again or Mormons.

Your thoughts...

Can someone be a religious suicide bomber and not be brainwashed? This is a serious question, lets think first before answering.

Islamic Suicide bombers are almost always very young. They are raised under a strict Islamic religious code and deprived of most of the things non-muslims worlwide are allowed. They go through the hormone-explosion of puberty without any normal outlet permitted to them.

These powder kegs of bottled hormones have been raised with a singular religious contempt for the kafir and a promise of certain paradise only through murder for Allah (Surah 4 in the Quran). Many interviews have been recorded (PBS has some fantastic footage) of Islamic suicide bomber recruiters who gladly devulge their methodology.

The recruiter says "when you press the button, you will feel nothing cause its instant, not time for body to send pain signals to the brain, and then you will be in paradise".

Brainwashing = Depravation, seculsion from other views, absolutes.

Imagine the future, technology and space travel have advanced beyond all of today’s comprehension. In order to spread the human race around the universe, a couple (male and female) are transported to another planet in another solar system many millions of light years away from Earth. The planet has the necessary environment to sustain human life.

The couple are given an instruction booklet of do’s and don’ts in order to happily survive and flourish, and then the space traveller leaves for good and returns to Earth. The couple get down to business and breed.

In thousands of years to come, do you think that the new planet of humans will believe that the space traveller was God, the original couple was Adam & Eve, and that the instruction booklet was the Bible?

Many Muslims say that Islam is purely a religion, but when I read history I found that Islam was spread as political invasion, just like any other emporium (Roman, Persian...etc.). My question is simply, what if people of some country accepted Islam and embraced it but they still wanted to maintain their independence? why should they accept a ruler who was foreigner from their country?

To give you an example, when Islam entered Algeria, it was an independent country by the time, so why people were supposed to accept to be ruled by a Muslim leader from another country? Some might say it is to teach them Islam, but I think a scholar can also teach them Islam much better. Please comment.

Theists, I respect you, please hit the back button on your browser.

Ok, Atheists and Agnostics, someone in my last question brought up a good point, can we expect an intelligent answer from someone who believes there is a man in the sky with a long white beard and a grey robe and sandals and he throws fireballs at Earth. Obviously we can expect them to make change at the store, but when talking to them about God, is it almost like going to a mental hospital and talking to someone who got probbed by a UFO. Can we ever expect any answer about God from a religious person, other than what one of their books says, or something that they are making up. Its like talking to someone who worships Zeus, would we ever get anything out of a Zeus worshipper besides Zeus impregnanted that lady magically and he threw a lightning bolt when he was mad at us and he took away our wheat crop and we starved.

Atheists and agnostics, if that is the case, why do we ask questions in this section?

What started me thinking about this was the question of literacy levels in teachers.

If someone handed in a well written piece to a teacher who was unable to appreciate the complex arguments, grammar, choice of words, then how would the teacher recognise the worth of the essay?

Hypothetical there, I am actually training to be a teacher.

If you could provide your comments about the scenario above and answer the overarching question, that would be great.

I'm posting here because I know there are a few intelligent folk in this area. A few.

Cheers.

God’s game

Hi Folks,

My name is God. I love to play games. This is my one of my favorite.

I am going to send my son, Jesus, to Earth to be murdered. Then I will tell SOME people, not all mind you, just some people, that if they do not worship my dead son and me, that they will be tortured in Hell for all eternity.

What’s that you say? You don’t understand why I don’t tell all people about my son and me? We’ll that’s the best part of the game. You see, this way, all the people on Earth can fight about it. You should see the wild and crazy things they do.

Well yes, you are right; of course I could make everyone believe in me if I wanted. I’m all-powerful. HELLO! But where is the fun it that.

Love,
God

PS – I have a good buddy, Allah. He loves games too. You should have seen how hard he laughed when those guys flew airplanes into buildings. What a scream!
