I mean, either it is the word of God or it isn't. When Pat Robertson speaks a word of knowledge from the Holy Ghost, why don't Christians compile it into a new book of scriptures. If it is God speaking, then it is just as valid as any other scripture, if it isn't, then those Christians who claim it is are either liars or delusional.

Like today 61 years ago America nuked Hiroshima and killed on the spot 200000 innocent humans, the first time ever in human history atomic bomb was used. The worse happened few days latter when Nagasaki was nuked in cold blood killing more innocent humans. In my own view Truman ranks at the top of criminals in human history surpassing Hitler but the Americans consider him a hero and try to rationalize his crimes. More amazing the Japanese feel if they were the criminals and try to apologize for what happened instead of asking the Americans at least to compensate those innocent people as the Jews did with the Germans. Today America still leads the list in war crimes followed by Israel and people inside and out side watching without any action. I suggest American people demonstrate against their government policies and people out side America boycott them till they stop their crimes. Your suggestions please.

I realize the hypocracy of this question....but why do people put their questions in "Religion and Spirituality" when their question has nothing to do with that? One said something like "Am i to young to know i'm gay" Thats not religion or spirituality, thats sexual orientation! i duno i just think its a waste b/c their questions are in the wrong place and may not get answered the way they want. (like i saw people lecturing the kid about how he was goin to hell for being gay-thats prob not the answer he wanted). Can we just keep our questions relevant? haha again i realize the hypocricy here but thought i would say it anyway b/c it concerns you who answer religion quest.

Ok, so a lot os religious folk (not all so don't tell me I'm generalizing!!) seem to be under the impression that all atheists are just angry at God, so everyone please explain why you're atheist, try to be mature about it so they can take it seriously, I want to show them that we disagree with organized religion for what we see as blinding them because I'm sick of the "Can you really be an atheist" question.

I'll start it off. I became atheist when I was 15 although it started when I was 7 or 8. I asked my sister who is 10 years older than me a question about heaven and she said she didn't believe in it anymore, and I was like but what about God, and she said she didn't believe in him either. I did the natural thing, "But you'll go to hell!". At which point I started thinking. Religion really seems like a trap. They lure you in with promise of some grand place like heaven, then once you're in they doom you to hell if you dissent. Along with many other things, it seems like a lure.

There is no tangible proof that there exists a life after death
There is no tangible proof that nothing happens when we die.

Both groups accept it on faith.

The idea of a conscious supreme being doesn't seem rational cause if it really existed, it would tangibly expose itself. But you still can't be sure it doesn't exist. Also, maybe there is no conscious supreme being but there is an after life. How can you be sure that there is nothing after life. There are mysteries in life like eternity or human consciousness which is not proven to be composed of only matter. How can you be sure? Why do you the atheists and theists believe in claims which can't be proven to be true?

There are many athiests, agnostics, and Wiccans on this site that don't know our Jesus. Are we showing them love or condemnation? Jesus would have come home with them, had a nice meal and a glass of wine, and told them about His Father.
Remember Mary Magdalen(prostitute), Zacchaeus(chief tax collector) and the woman at the well (promiscuious, despised Samaritan)?

I just found out last night that my husband is an atheist. We have been together for 15 years and he finally told me. I knew that he was hiding something but he wouldn't come out with it. We were both raised as Christians but neither of us are now. I am Pagan.
