I joined the UU Church several years ago and I have always felt like I have found my church family. I live in Sweden and there is not a UU church here and I feel disconnected and lost. Is there anyone in a simiIiar situation? I really miss it. I tried some e-mail discussions but they turned so negative. Are there any European alternatives for congregations like the UU?

Please answer in your own words and do not quote from any scripture. Be as brief as possible -- long passages are very hard to read and to follow, especially in forum. Sticking to the format I supply below would make it easy for people to compare and it would make a wonderful exercise for everyone even just to read it.

What are the basic goals of your religion/spiritual belief?

What task(s) do you think is/are appropriate to your goals?

How do you go about your task(s)?

What do you have to give up to accomplish those tasks?

Have your accomplishments been effective in meeting the goals of your religion or spiritual belief?

Whether it has or has not been effective, how do you think your religion or its goals are affecting the world / people / enemy around you? (Include both positive and negative ones)

Now sum up everything you have just said to 3 different adjectives.

That can only be attributed to God. If possible, please add as many details as you can. Please limit this to something you have personally witnessed, and also to a miracle that does not happen day to day (Such as healthy births, the sun rising, dinner going as planned, etc)

Thank you

First off I'd like to state that I am a Roman Catholic and I would gladly lie my life down for my religion. But here is my big question. To many people does it seem like most religions are brainwashed and blindly accept a book as the turth? From my experience many religious people I know will be like beleive in Jesus or suffer in the end. I say ok but what if someone is great in life and helps many people or even sacrifices their life to save someone else do they deserve hell? And their reply will be if they dont beleive in God then yes. Things like this shock me and Im like WTF that is such bs and sounds like they have been brainwashed to think a certain way. I for one know I genuinely believe in God and I gladly question things about him and religion because honestly it makes my faith stronger. I find that those who blindly accept things are just in my opinion not using thier free will. We were given free will to question things so I believe questioning religion is a good thing to do

ok if god is real why does he allow us hypicritical judgmental sinful christians here live pretty good lives. When the best innocent christians you will ever find are slowly dying in other parts of the world for no reason. And there was this study at some university that said people are born gay. Yet being gay is a sin? I think god should just judge us on whether we are good people. Not whether we remained pure until marrage or whether we damaged our body crap like that. And isnt it wrong to worship a person. Yet look at what we do. We practically worship celebrities. And jesus was just a person.......this is all so stupid

Is the letter of the law the important thing or is the heart of the law the most important? Too many of us get caught up on the law and lose sight of the meaning behind it. Like how much should I give? How should I pray? and one of my favorites When and how often should I go to church? "The LAW demands little but LOVE demands much."
Peace Be With You,
Debra

the inspiration of the Bible by the Holy Spirit of God?

Israel did not exist as a nation for almost 2000 years, since it was destroyed in 70 AD by the Romans. And by the way, Jesus prophecied this destruction in Mathew 24 , YEARS before it happened!

It seems that the belly button is just a scar left over from our umbilical cords, right? Since Adam was created from dirt, and Eve from his rib, they never had any womb time, or umbilical cords. So, they never had innies or outies..., right?

We Christians all have different denominations or styles if you like. None of us should be belittling the other or trying to discredit anothers beliefs. Don't you feel we are wasting our time arguing the letter of the law rather than on focussing on the heart of it?

This is a follow-up to another's question regarding the Second Commandment and Christians use of religious images. The general respose was that these images are not idols, so they do not break the Second Commandment.

So is the desecration/destruction of objects like the crucifix a sin? Are those who are iconoclasts - "image breakers" - who see these images to be wrong committing a wrong in destroying them?

I realize that it may be offensive to those who value the image, just as the burning of the flag may be offensive, but is it a sin? If so, how so?

**Please use a scriptural reference as your defense.**

OK,repeat after me :Common Ancestor! Let's try it again, just to make sure we have it all right.Ready?Common Ancestor! Very good! Now are you going to say a Persian cat is the same thing as a Leopard? No! 2 different species!! Is a horse a zebra? No!! Is a dachshund the same thing as a wolf? No!! Is a hamster the same thing as an otter? No!!I believe I have made my point!!!
There have been way too many evolution/monkey questions on here lately, and if this rant cuts down on even one more stupid monkey question, I will consider it a good days work! So,1 more time, can we say 'Common Ancestor'?

I have gone to several white churches lately and I'm home an hour earlier than my Baptist church and an hour to two hours earlier than a holiness church. I'm trying to find a church family.
