We Christians all have different denominations or styles if you like. None of us should be belittling the other or trying to discredit anothers beliefs. Don't you feel we are wasting our time arguing the letter of the law rather than on focussing on the heart of it?

Teach if you like but when asked leave well enough alone. You will only discourage others by being forceful.

Debra,

What you have spoken is highly Scriptural. Kudos!

"Remind others about these things, and warn them in the sight of God not to argue over words. Arguing does not do any good but only destroys those who are listening." (II Timothy 2:14)

And

"But avoid foolish controversies, arguments about genealogies, quarrels, and fights about the law. These things are useless and worthless. Have nothing to do with a person who causes divisions after you have warned him once or twice. For you know that a person like this is corrupt and keeps on sinning, being self-condemned. (Titus 3:9-11)

In His Grip! :-D

I totally agree with you. I am LDS and we are constantly being scrutinized because for some reason people think we don't believe in the bible or that we are a strange cult or lots of different, and there are so many, false rumors and even teachings about us. We do believe everyone has their own choice to believe what they want. We are not out there trying to disprove any other religion or beliefs, though we do spread the word about ours. If you choose to accept it, great, if you don't, so be it. I don't mind discussing but I hate when people want to argue about it! A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still!

Christians must only believe that the Christ is the savior of all mankind, including yourself. The Christ is the Christ now and forever before. The Christ spoke the world into existence (the Logos). Jesus was only a human who contained the total Christ spirit. The law was fulfilled, accomplished, and completed by the Christ. The father God also will accept other religious persons including Buddists, etc. who will be given the chance to accept Him at the last moment of their life or shortly thereafter in Purgatory or the equivalent to achieve their desired end.

If writers of scripture were concerned about false teachers in the church, then we should be too. We are to have an attitude of love and humility that should permeate our whole beings, but truly loving a brother sometimes does include rebuke if they're into something that could harm them. And if the disagreement merely relates to a minor issue, there's no reason Christians shouldn't feel comfortable with discussing it. The problem comes in when folks either get easily offended or when folks lose the attitude of love & humility.

Debra,
There aren't supposed to be any denominations. Actually, there aren't supposed to be any churches, either. None of this mess you are talking about, was supposed to happen. Jesus came to the earth to deliver a simple, and elegant message. To those who understand it, and live it, there is no need for the trappings of man's religions. He wanted us all to know, "The Kingdom of God is within you". If we approach God as humble children, and invite Him into our hearts, He sends His Spirit into us, and bonds with us. We become new creatures, part mortal, part Immortal. The old values of materialism and fear fall away. Love and Wisdom, become the foundation of all our choices. We have embarked on the Path of Eternity, and we will never be the same again. God doesn't have denominations, or churches. He has children.

Well said, but isn't the law important. The word is not up for debate and should not be argued as such. The truth will come to those who seek the truth as it is. Many try to add biest opinion to the law and that is wrong. You must find the truth yourself and if you have trouble than ask an older Cristian to help, but ask for a reference not some obscure book he read years ago but a chapter/verse. God Bless

If you faith contradicts the Scriptures, you are not walking according to the Will of GOD.
None of us is perfect. None of us knows the Scriptures perfectly. However, if you are living with someone who is not your wife, you are living in sin and there is no way you can synchronize your actions with scripture. If you are stealing from your job by taking things like paper and pens from the supply room, you are stealing and it is not compatible with scripture. Or if you are singing to God at the top of your voice and cursing your brother after the service, the heart is the problem and it is not filled with the goodness of God. If your denomination says it's OK to join in a homosexual relationship, you are practicing something that is incompatible with scripture and is not in the ways of God. I could go on forever on this topic. There needs to be debate and confrontation regarding the truth of scripture. That is why in 2nd Timothy 3 it says:

Amen, sister! Differences are actually good...healthy even, in many ways. But when they divide us, that's when they become a problem. Instead of arguing about our differences, I agree that we should use our differences together. For Paul even said, the toe can't tell the finger that it's not needed, or the right arm can't tell the right foot that it's not needed. There are many parts, and we need to work together if the world is to know through us that God sent Jesus Christ.

If it is truly arguing it is not a good thing. But to discuss differences of opinions , is how the truth is learned from each other, How sad it would be if we all just stopped , where we are, in the understanding of Gods Word.
No the Devil will hate for us, to keep wasting our time discussing it. He knows if we do we will likely find the truth. which is what Gods Word is.

You are so right!! Everytime I see a post where one religion is bashing the other I usually write that it is not Christian like to bash others. I think what matters is the way you live your life and how you treat others. These small differences between all our religions will not matter in the end.
