I am currently reading the Bible from cover to cover and have come up a lot of questions concerning things that are mentioned it. But, my main question thus far is "Why does God always attempt to kill, harm, and/or prevent his messengers - the people he has assigned certain task - when they attempt fulfill his orders?"

Do you think God selected Paul to be the main one to go to the Gentiles. Was it because he was a roman citizen,or that he killed so many Christians in the past and many may have disliked him in Israel, or do you think it was not God but the other disciples alone and his choice alone. My 2nd question is why after Peter's betrayal, did Christ say upon him his church would be built and is this the reason that Peter is said to be at the gate?
John refers to himself as Christ's favorite.

Soul of Christ, sanctify me
Body of Christ, save me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me
Water from Christ's side, wash me
Passion of Christ, strengthen me
O good Jesus, hear me
Within Thy wounds hide me
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee
From the malicious enemy defend me
In the hour of my death call me
And bid me come unto Thee
That I may praise Thee with Thy saints
and with Thy angels
Forever and ever
Amen

I am just curious as to how do all religions think they are going to Heaven. Is it just by simply being good? Is it because of what Jesus done? Please just give me a run done of how in your religion will you get to Heaven. I have no church right now, but I believe its cause of what Jesus did on the cross for me. And please state what religion you are with your answer. Thank you.

What is up with the way some people dress for Mass and Church these days? I have seen underwear that I thought covers more. For those of us who believe that we are in God's house I want to know, would you wear a bathing suit to meet the President? I am not talking about dressing fancy but clean, neat, and modest. I am not speaking to those who do not have better clothes but to those who spend huge amounts to keep up with the fashion trend. It is very difficult for men and teenage boys to pay attention in church these days due to what some women and girls wear? Don't you agree?

I'm a recovering alcoholic and have been going to AA meetings for 3 years. I previously had a period of sobriety in my life that lasted 9.

I relapsed during the past 3 years several times, and my belief is God is the only think that has kept me away from a drink. I've been sober a while, but I'm losing faith quickly.

The reason is that I'm very lonely. I haven't managed to make any friends, my ex-girlfriend left me a year ago and is sober now, and has tons of friends.

I have found women in recovery aren't interested in men in recovery, and women outside of AA don't want to date a recovering alcoholic.

I try very hard to trust that God has a plan for happiness for me some day, but I'm so lonely I haven't been happy for a year.

Why does God want me to be so lonely?

Guiseppe Mazzini (1805-1872), an Italian nationalist leader said the following:

"Every Age has it's own peculiar faith...........Any attempt to translate into facts the mission of one Age with the machinery of another, can only only end in an indefinite series of abortive efforts. Defeated by the utter want of proportion between the means and the end, such attempts might produce martyrs, but never lead to victory."

Revelations is supposed to take place on Earth. What if we colonize the moon or Mars or inhabit a self-sustaining space station? Do we escape "judgement"?

People are pretending to be something they are not and others are so gullible to believe them and get angry at their question. when it is quite obviously B.S. Relax a little people, and keep in mind that there will be some posts just to try to get a rise out of you. people do it for fun or whatnot.

OT- Mankind in their younger years God saying "No don't do that, hey get outa there, hey stop that, no don't hurt her, get off of that, quit bothering him, hey!

Ok we have learned like a 6-16 yr old kid what harms people and what not to do

NT-Gods greatest command "...Love God, love others as you would yourself..." Now you are post teen or adult, God tells us love and live. We are able to govern our lives according to love, knowing from the OT or our younger years what harms another.

What is your take on the OT/NT in relation to each other as far as how God dealt with His people?

That dawn will follow darkest night

That peace will triumph in the end.

And somehow make it all to right.
