Why do you think you get so scared?
Your name, witchbabyblackcat, is the giveaway.
Satan has no intention of letting you discover truth, peace and freedom. You are playing in his sandbox and he will not let you go easily. He will use whatever tactics, especially irrational fear, to prevent you from hearing the truth. Satan, or one of his designated agents, is causing your panic attacks, for the express purpose of getting you out of there.
You have to decide which you desire more, freedom and peace or bondage and slavery.
Eventually, you may see the real face of the demons (spirit guides, etc.) you are hanging out with and you'll know what fear looks like.
Been there, done that, burned the t-shirts.
Act 19:11 God did powerful things through Paul, things quite out of the ordinary.
Act 19:12 The word got around and people started taking pieces of clothing--handkerchiefs and scarves and the like--that had touched Paul's skin and then touching the sick with them. The touch did it--they were healed and whole.
Act 19:13 Some itinerant Jewish exorcists who happened to be in town at the time tried their hand at what they assumed to be Paul's "game." They pronounced the name of the Master Jesus over victims of evil spirits, saying, "I command you by the Jesus preached by Paul!"
Act 19:14 The seven sons of a certain Sceva, a Jewish high priest, were trying to do this on a man
Act 19:15 when the evil spirit talked back: "I know Jesus and I've heard of Paul, but who are you?"
Act 19:16 Then the possessed man went berserk--jumped the exorcists, beat them up, and tore off their clothes. Naked and bloody, they got away as best they could.
Act 19:17 It was soon news all over Ephesus among both Jews and Greeks. The realization spread that God was in and behind this. Curiosity about Paul developed into reverence for the Master Jesus.
Act 19:18 Many of those who thus believed came out of the closet and made a clean break with their secret sorceries.
Act 19:19 All kinds of witches and warlocks came out of the woodwork with their books of spells and incantations and made a huge bonfire of them. Someone estimated their worth at fifty thousand silver coins.
Act 19:20 In such ways it became evident that the Word of the Master was now sovereign and prevailed in Ephesus.

I have a best friend that has had the same feelings - after some long conversations he finally admitted to me that when he was younger he made a pact with the devil - he sold his soul for the safety of his child. I have prayed with him numerous times and continue to lift him up to Christ.
You must know that no matter what sin you have or will commit, Jesus died on the cross for ALL sins. There is not one that he hasn't died for.
If you truely want to know Jesus as your personal savior - go to the minister at this church and discuss this with him. If this is where God wants you to be you will find the answer. God is Love and if you are not feeling love in His house - than maybe it isn't really a house of God and you need to find another church to worship.
Don't run from God - Run to Him !!!
God Bless You

I totally get you. I like the people, and I understand they're trying to live a better life. But, when I see them in a church, it does seem like I'm trapped amidst some sort of cult ceremony. Now, I don't go anymore.
But, I don't know if I feel sorry for them because very few of them, I think, actually believe in all the stuff in their heart: I mean, how many actually practice what's preached. Religion has been a great source of power and socialization, and sets reasonable social norms, in which people can get along. But, how many wars have been fought in the name of religion?
I feel that wise, educated, person would realize that we have to help and get along with fellow human being, and for that, I don't think religion is necessary.
Still, this is the society, in which we live. Luckily, we don't have to agree with everything and live our lives the way we want to.

I have felt both the feeling you described (only I also wanted to get as many kids out the door and shout "run for your lives while you have a chance") and I have also wanted to take over the preacher's job because I felt inspiration seemingly beyond his capability to purvey. Nowadays, I think it's a good idea to expose young kids to a church environment (to learn basic 'right' and 'wrongs') until they are old enough to say "I don't want to go anymore." They may change their minds many times as they grow older but I don't agree with 'forcing' an older kid to go against their will. You run the risk of doing more damage than good.

I have read all the other answers and I hope you ignore most of them. I have felt the exact same way as you. And also, these panic attacks could be symptomatic of "religious abuse" which is where seemingly well meaning adults take very small children to church whereupon the child is told that God is watching his every move and if he does anything wrong God will send him straight to hell. And here's the real clincher, "God loves you."
"Religion is for people trying to stay out of hell. Spirituality is for people who have already been there."

Faith is a gift to those of us who can believe in it. It is not for all people. Although I am a Muslim, I seem to suggest "Taoism" to other people the most because it is closest to what they seem to believe and guides them to the light.
I do agree that MUCH OF CONVENTIONAL wisdom is a bunch of hogwash. I think that the idea of Hell was invented partly to scare people into accepting faith. Faith is something you should do on your own accord for its own merits. I did not find faith until I was about 30.
Churches are strange places however, and I once had to run out of Christmas service with my parents. They are often QUITE STUFFY and not VERY RELAXING. What happened to the days of Socrates sitting around on a field of grass and speaking his mind? I don't think even Jesus BUILT a BIG STUFFY BUILDING where everybody is FORCED BY CONVENTION to dress up and be really quiet. I can understand not wanting to be around that. But, you do not need to be a member of a church to be religious. I rarely go to church and have not stepped foot in a mosque. I also eat pork and don't pray to Mecca 7 times a day. God can sue me in Heaven if he thinks that is the right thing to do.
If you find faith, the more power to you. It will bring you hope and cheer through life and inspire the best out of you. If you can't find faith, hope for cheer and good behavior anyway.
I take offense to the HITLER reference. God helps us; he created ALL OF US. But, he did not give us EVERYTHING because he wants us to take care of each other as well, and some wishes conflict with others. What do a RAPIST AND HIS VICTIM get if they pray for each other's opposites? Some of Allah's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers. YOU DID NOT STOP HITLER EITHER!

Why are you there if you feel that way? Are you saying that someone is brainwashed because he/she believes in God and prayer? That's a grand leap in logic. It's a good bet that the worshipers feel sorry for (and are praying for) the one who is suffering panic attacks. Maybe there is a spiritual dimension going on here.
May you find peace in God and His son Jesus Christ

So you are frightened of love? Some of these people are praying for you. They are praying to God because they have loved ones that are sick, hooked on drugs, and under the influence of Satan.
Being frightened of these people would be like being scared that a young baby is going to hurt you. They actually feel sorry for you.

The fact that you get scared and get panic attacks tells me the reason you think we are brainwashed is because Satan has a firm grip on you. Church is for Christians, Christians have Christ in their hearts, they believe and accept Him as sovereign Lord. If you had Him in your heart, you would see things differently.

Try praying about it.
It sounds trite but if the concern is brainwashing private prayer does not come with that as a possibility because it is you alone with your own thoughts unless, There is a God that is answering and influencing you.
