hose of you who say the first day, he seperated the angels,.. But, Genisis chapter one discusses the creation of the Earth. In two places it states He seperated light from darkness. Not about angels. But about night and day. Thus we have a contradiction in the Bible. And "Bible Thumpers" mean you all who preach the Bible.
No, I read it myself. it IS NOT self explanatory. It explicitly states that on the first day and on the fourth day He seperated the dark from the light. So was it the first day or the 4th? IT IS A LIE OF THE BIBLE.

"rosends" gave you the answer. I think you are confused because you are thinking that the light on the first day is the same as the light on the fourth day. The 4th day is talking about THE MOON WHICH GIVES MOONLIGHT AND THE SUN WHICH GIVES SUNLIGHT AND THE STARS, see verses 14-19. These are physical sources of light that were created. On day 1, God created light that was set up as day and night but without the sun, moon and stars. I believe that the day and night or evening and morning was used before the sun, or moon were created to give us a point of reference time- wise so we would know that a 24 hour or literal 7 day week was happening. Exodus 20 which mentions the 10 commandments and details that God made the heavens and the earth (our universe) in six days of a week , see verses 8-11. Also Jesus in talking about "day and night" describes that a day has 12 hours (night then must have 12 hours) see John 11:9-10. For my fellow Christians who have been told that God took millions or billions of years to create the world and man, that is not found in the bible and God spoke the creation into existence and He doesn't stutter, so it happened at that same time of day.

The original Hebrew word for Divide in this context is badal which means to be divided, separate: in many places in the bible this is translated as set apart.

These two verse actually explain different actions God took, the first is simply Creating light and separating it from darkness.

The second is creating the sun and the moon.

Both of these things set Day apart from night.

This is similar to saying the Fur or a dog makes it a separate animal from Humans. The ears of a god make it a separate animal from Humans. These are both true statements one doesn't keep the other from being true.

Just like when god separate light from Dark that did make day different from night, but making th sun for the day and the Moon for the night also made Night different from day.

Separating light from darkness happened before the sun and earth were created.

This is because Genesis is an allegory, it really talking about the redemption of man, not the creation of earth. The 2nd chapter put the creation of man and women on same day. You need to read Emanuel Swedonborg. His explanation is very good. Also writings of Robert B. Thompson are good. Helen Keller was Swedonborgian.

First day, God creates light (out of the darkness). (Genesis 1:3)
Same day (first day) God names them Night and Day (Genesis 1:5)
Fourth day, God sets up the sun and the moon and the stars that shine and rule over the day or night respectively (Genesis 1:13 - 18) but God had already made night and day and light. (Genesis suggests that darkness might have already existed).

There is no discussion of "separation" in Genesis.

A better question: Is God male or female? and what about Lilith (the pre-Eve woman?)

On the first day God divided the light from the darkness. On the fourth day he created the sun, moon and stars as tools to keep the light separated from the darkness.

I believe that the light and dark he separated on the first day was the judgement of the angels. Or maybe that's when He separated the good from the evil. I don't know we'll all find out eventually.

So, i could wager that various the Bible writers did understand the earth replace into around. purely religionists (frequently Romanists) nicely previous to Columbus believed the earth replace into flat. That replace right into a scientific view that alter into maintained with the aid of the Catholic Church. it is the comparable now whilst the pope keeps evolutionary concept (that's only the advent myth of the twentieth century). The Bible and technological know-how do no longer conflict. Darwinism and technological know-how and Darwinism and the Bible conflict very much. there are a number of scientists that are Christian, yet they are surely persecuted with the aid of the monolithic employer. God wrote this to make you wonder. It is really cool that He created the light first (on Day One) BEFORE He created the things that shone the light (on Day Four). And, yes, I agree with the other people who wrote that God separated the light from the darkness on the first day.

Well, there are two creation stories in the Bible. There are other differences between them. Supposedly the creation story was written while the Jews were held captive in Babylon to compete with the creation story that the Babylonians had.
