Do you celebrate Christmas, Easter, etc....I know these originated as pagan holidays, but if you celebrate them as Christian holidays, WHY???? If you do not believe in God?

I am Protestant Christian and I am thinking of converting to Buddhism but would like to learn more about it as well as find a Buddhist temple or monastary (someplace i can worship) within either the town or county I live in. I live in Wauconda, Illinois and I live in Lake County. Any information would be appreciated. Also for those who are going to state the obvious i already tried google.

I want to give Christianity a try but I don't want to go to this church or that. I want to find God in my own way. How should pray to the Holy Spirit?

If believing in God is a requisite for eternal life, why free will? I'm an intelligent, compassionate person raised in the Roman Catholic tradition. I've searched for "God" and found nothing convincing. So using my "free will" that "God" supposedly gave me, I no longer believe in religion. Why would this choice mean an eternity in hell?

I'm not trying to be inflammatory here, nor have I fully determined my opinion on the death penalty. But, I did want to ask...

The bible states thou shalt not kill...the bible also talks of forgiveness for those who sin against us...and the bible also seems to indicate "and eye for an eye..."

There are people in this world who commit murder. No one will deny that most murderers have some sort of problem, but some are just more evil and definately meaner than others. We are so angry at the murderers that we declare out loud that we want them to go to Hell.

Some of these murderers are sentenced to death. By administering the dealth penalty, have we basically saved that person? Because now we have done to him/her what God has apparently said we should not do...will God absolive this murderer of his or her sins and accept him into His kingdom because we sinned against the murderer?

Or does and eye to an eye apply here?

Aren"t People who hide their faces cowards? Does a religion that requires you to hide your face use this rule to control your mind and fill you with fear? How can this practice of shame and secrecy make your life better?

Note how mankind and superficiality go together like peanut butter and jelly. Evident by most questions and answers posted on this Yahoo site. Truly, is there no depth to man? Is this it? Those "stick figured" peoeple modeling? Sex with anything that moves? and woe is me? Envying while dreaming about somebody else life?

Where are the people who are dying everyday inside with desire to live? Who's craving life? Good and Righteousness? Morals and true friendship? Where are you folk?????? Has everyone died and gone to heaven? Is there no one left who desires good, God and Jesus Christ? Where is everybody????? Wake up people while there's yet time..... Wake up!!!!

Most Christians feel that they have finally found the "pot of gold" and by telling others of it, they are merely showing their love and concern for fellow humankind. If I tell you the wonderful things, and you don't want part of it, that is your free will. But if you do want it, cool! Either way, I have done my part.

16"I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star."

17The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.

18I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

20He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon."
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

21The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen.
