Why do some people say that atheists are "arrogant and souless"?

I wouldn't say that all atheists are arrogant. Unfortunately, I have only met one or two who aren't. As for the "soulless" part: hmm. Persons of faith believe that one's soul is the immortal part of a person, the part that transcends the temporal. I would think that in order to believe that you have a soul, you would have to believe in the supernatural realm. I guess it depends on what the "soul" is to you. Maybe when some people say atheists are "souless", they actually mean without morals or a conscience. To make that assumption is wrong. I'm so sorry if someone called you this. I apologize on behalf of all the ignorant, insensitive louts.

Some atheists are arrogant...but so are some Christians, Buddhists, Jews...you name a group and it will have arrogant people in it.

Eh, I don't really care if people say atheists are soulless...I don't believe in a soul anyway. But, some people think atheists are immoral because how could they possibly understand morality without a 2,000 year old book to guide them (sarcasm)

I am a Christian, I do not say that atheists are "arrogant and souless." In fact, I do not say or think many of the things that people on here say Christians say and think!!! If anything, atheists are just lost. They don't know the truth (which sets them free.) and some do not want to....

Many atheist feel that they have thought this out. Because of this they assume that Christians have not thought it out. Actually we spend some time every week or every day thinking about it.

some people don't understand that there is a possibility that god doesn't exist. They close off their minds, they don't want to know that god isn't real. That's why they hate atheists- somehow it doesn't register with Christians that it is possible that god is fake. They've been conditioned their whole lives into believing he is real. They attack atheists so harshly because they ACTUALLY believe that they're going to be punished. They don't know any better, they've taken the bible literally, when it clearly isn't supposed to be taken literrally. I dunno, I'm just off on one of my rants. Nobody is right. Hell, maybe there is a god and I'm going to hell.

Because they are ignorant and believe that if someone does not believe in the same things, religions,...etc that they are soulless and arrogant because we have the nerve to say "I don't believe"

Because a) quite a few atheists act "holier than thou" (pardon the pun) when it comes to talking to people who believe in god; and that b) some Christians believe that if you've forsaken God, then you have no soul.

Because "some´" behave like it and not believing "in the first place" earns them the title "soulless".
