Gospel has two meanings, one derived from the other.
The first is a reference to a number of "books" of the wisdom of the
followers of Christ, supposedly written around the time of his life
and shortly thereafter. Note that there are many more gospels
than appear in the modern bible, mostly because the early
church councils rejected the remaining as "not fitting the message".
For instance, we still have pieces of gospels indicating the
Christ was just a man (not devine), and even recently one from
Judas (really!) which seems to indicate that he had a special
relationship with Christ where he had to appear to forsake him
for the good of the religion.
None of what you commonly read in a bible was written in a gospel,
of course - it is a translation. Scholars spend years debating on
the veracity of the translation, and of course the implications
of events that supposedly happened around then.
When used as an adjective, almost always in front of the word
truth (as in "The gospel truth"), it is meant to indicate that it is the
truth according to the lord. However, the phrase is always issued
by human beings, it is self-inconsistant.
Gospel is probably a derivation of "God's Spell", and is usually taken
to mean "Good news" as in the word of the coming of Christ.
Presumably, all of the inconsistancies are man's, not God's.

The word "gospel" literally means "good news". If you have a reference Bible, or one with footnotes, try looking up Matthew 24:14.

The word "Gospel" to me means the compilation of the four books in the Bible: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. (2) The teachings of Jesus Christ. (3) Any excerpts reveal of the four Bible books read during worship services
If the letter "G" was lower case like this "g" it would mean the absolute truth or the belief in truth.

The word gospel means 'good news'. You probably know this, since you asked what the word means "to you", but that is what it means, and that is what it means to me.

sad but true. To me Gospel does not bring images of Jesus of the books of the bible, it brings to mind a bunch of people thinking they can entertaina specific crowd by miming a song in praise.

The word gospel actually means good news.
The more one reads and learns it the more they see how good it is.
