Totally agree. But there are a few of the good ones left hidden in the dark corners, unfortunately a lot of them don't want to step out into the light and let people know what they stand for because they're too worried what others will think.
I'm all for God, morals, and 'true' friends (loyal and real friends are few and far between these days, that's for sure), and yes it's time for the alarm clocks to start buzzing so us humans wake up to reality.
Too many humans are focused on their little closed in boxes and their everyday lives and they don't see the big picture unfolding all around them. They don't really 'see' the rest of the world and what life's really all about.
but hey i'm far from perfect, but still....

That's a pretty long question you'ave asked, and the answer really has to take into account many realms, you talk of everything in the neagtive sense, superficiality is probably one those things that has kept mankind alive and a concept of "God" to evolve. From a purely scientific perspective it's perfectly alright for mankind to be attached to material possessions and being materialistic itself, it gives us all a sense belonging and reality. We are driven by goals which are tangible, it's a trait that has created the world and the civilisation that we live in, we have created all its various religions, to give us something to hold onto and believe that there is a higher life and authority. The concept of God itself is something brought about by our need to live, I cannot understand why you would think that people don't. Good and Righteousness are very subjective topics, there are no hard and fast rules in life, it's how many principles in life you stand by, you would be surprised how many people comprise on that facet when it comes to the crunch. When it comes to one's ultimate weakness, the fall is inevitable.
I don't know about the depth in man, but we all are thinkers, some more than others, but we live in fast times, practicality dominates our living, a philosophical life leads no place lucrative. Fashion isn't about how shallow people are, it's just a part of our culture, if you're talking about our innermost wants of stick models, I don't think that has much to do with it, you get all sorts on this planet, women are beautiful as a thumb rule, the fashion industry simply takes thin models because the clothes fall better on them and plus the clothes are more prominent then, with the added advantage that it takes less clothes and less clothes meaning better workability. It's one those insider knowledge thing (somebody told this to moi). "Sex with anything that moves", I don't about that, but our culture is infatuated with the idea of sex, can't be help that, it being a very pleasure stimulating activity, it's in our genes to procreate, in some people the chemicals involved play with their mind and you get gist.
Good is there, but possibly not enough of it, but it's never going to matter. The world as we know it won't change at least for a very long time, all I can say is that we adapt and we'll get used to almost anything. I guess most of us really want to do good but other things get the proirity, its cut throat competition out there. And we all have this heard mentality.
Take it easy, maybe in some parallel universe it is all that you would like it to be.
Thank You.

I'm a good person, and I don't need Jesus Christ to tell me to be a good person. I'm not a good person because I think I'll go to hell otherwise. I help people out because it makes the world a better place. There's nothing I love more than to see a smile on someone's face and know that I'm the reason it's there. I'm "awake," as you say, and I do what I can to help make the world a better place. Maybe, instead of sitting at your computer complaining about it, you should go out and do something about it.

Calma Sister. All is well. This is a planet of suffering an expiation, but the world IS evolving, and people must evolve with it. If the humans on this planet refuse to evolve and say in their present states, the planet will eventually pass them and they will incarnate to another planet.
There are people with kind hearts and clean souls as you seek. They are all around us, but are not popularized as the rich, famous and thrill seeking.
The people you seek are the ones who understand their evolutional progress, and work towards it.

Um....
Calm down.
Just because it isn't obvious that God is present with people, doesn't mean He isn't.
