I have seen this in a lot of questions about how can Christians believe in the theory of gravity and not evolution when the reason they give for not believing evolution is they say they cant believe in things that are only theories. They like to quote gravity as a law, like Newton’s law of gravity etc, but if you look into it, they don’t even work properly anymore as we now use the special theory of relativity.
So why will they refuse to understand the fundamentals of a theory?
And dont just say gravity is a fact because things fall down, that doesnt prove gravity its just something we attribute to it based on a current theory.

We are committed to the application of reason and science, to the understanding of the universe and to the solving of human problems. This must be combined with sensitivity and compassion

We are concerned with securing justice and fairness in society and with eliminating discrimination and intolerance to achieve an open and pluralist society

We believe that scientific discovery and technology can contribute to the betterment of human life

We are committed to the separation of Church and State

We respect the right to privacy. Mature adults should be able to exercise reproductive freedom, to have access to comprehensive and informed healthcare and to die with dignity

We believe in the common moral decencies: altruism, integrity, honesty, truthfulness, responsibility. Humanist ethics are amenable to critical, rational guidance

Non-muslims keep hearing that Islam is the religion of peace. Everyone knows that moderate muslims did not order the planes to hit the WTC on 9/11, but why do muslims not condemn the acts of these violent criminals? Where is the fatwa against AlQaeda? How can we believe your sincerity if you remain silent on this important issue?

These are demons who have intercourse with you while you're asleep. Our minister preached a sermon involving this on yesterday morning. I believe that demons are very real and the only way to fight them off is through spiritual warfare and prayer in the name of Jesus Christ. Those who believe in demons, what is your take on this?

Gods as depicted in many of the world's religions are very jealous creatures - If you believe in god A and in fact it's god B who exists, then you're doomed to everlasting torture in god B's version of hell for the crime of choosing the wrong god. Isn't it safer not to have any gods at all, so at least you can't be accused of worshipping the wrong one?

Theists, if they really believe that gods can exist at all, must live in constant terror of choosing the wrong one and ending up in someone else's hell.

I like the ideas of community, kindness, introspective knowledge, inspiration, and tradition... but I'm not actually a religious person. In short, I appreciate the good things about religion without actually believing any of the specifics! For example, I admire how Judaism is about cultural pride just as much as it's about the religion itself, in certain branches (i.e., it seems possible to be a "secular Jew"); I very much want to honor my forebears and instill a sense of pride in any children I might have one day. Is there any community that would accept me, just the way I am? I'm leaning towards semi-lapsed Episcopalianism, but I don't want to make a mistake and go to a church and then be faced with the "pressure sell!"

I have read a lot of answeres with foul laguage being used in the name of religion. Can we not have some decent language and answer Qs when it comes to religion. If you cannot respect other peoples faith then what respect do you have for your own.

As a Christian, I of course, believe Jesus Christ was God in human form.

I understand that your faith respects him as a prophet from God.

Are you aware that at his trial, when the Pharisees asked him if he was the son of God, he answered, "I am"....?

They knew what he was implying. That's why they called him a blasphemer and tore their robes.

Here is my question. How can you respect him a prophet of God (or Allah, if you prefer), when he claimed to be the son of God. Out of his own mouth he said, "I am the way....no one can come to the Father but by me".

I can't be the first person to wonder about this. What is the Muslim answer?

Thank you.

I have a good friend, who I jokingly refer to as the uber christian. she goes to church or bible study everyday, is always quoting scripture, and is constantly complaining about the erroding values of the us, and that if we would all embrace Jesus everything would be fine.

One example of this would be just the other day when she was saying how wrong it was for ppl in her apartment building to lie and sneak pets into there homes even though they are against the rules. Yet not 30 seconds later, she showed me pictures of the baby racoon she is raising. When I asked if she thought this was wrong, she said it wasn't because she didn't plan on keeping it forever.
I also once had a pastor who happily stole cable from a neighbors house. Well the neighbor helped him hook it up. But anyway, he justified this by saying that he paid the cable company enough for his internet service, so they owed him. And he also mentioned that pastors generally don't make alot of money, so it was charity.
